Charlotte asked Ava how long she had planned to stay in Lanceser. 

“Why don’t you ask if I want to stay here instead? Asking about my departure date – are you that eager to get rid of me?” Ava teased. 

Charlotte was speechless. 

She was being quite mischievous! 

“Grandma, you know that’s not what I meant!” Charlotte pouted. “Of course, I want you to stay, but I know you won’t.” 

Ava snorted and said, “Take me to see your studio later. You’ve become an impressive photographer, but have you properly photographed your grandmother yet?” 

“Sure, no problem.”

Charlotte linked her arms with her grandmother, resting her head on her shoulder. 

A server approached and whispered, “Ms. Hardwick, Mr. Sebastian Hardwick would like to see you backstage.” 

Charlotte blinked in confusion. “What for?” 

The server shook his head. “I don’t know, ma’am.” 

Charlotte scanned the room but couldn’t spot Sebastian anywhere. What could he want with her at a time like this? 

She stood up, ready to leave. 

“Wait a second!” Ava called out, grabbing her arm. 

Charlotte turned to her grandmother with a puzzled look. “What’s wrong, Grandma?”

Ava slipped a small scented sachet into Charlotte’s pocket. “I just made this. It has a unique fragrance. I want you to have it.” 

Charlotte’s eyes sparkled as she nodded with a smile. “Thanks, Grandma.” 

She followed the server to the staff break room backstage, but Sebastian was nowhere to be seen. “Where’s my brother?” she asked. 

Without warning, the server whirled around and lunged at her!

Charlotte was ready for this. She had already opened the sachet and held it in her hand. She thrust it toward the server’s face, releasing the powder onto their skin. 

“It burns! It burns!” the server screamed in agony. 

Her face swelled up visibly, with blue veins bulging beneath the reddened skin! 

Charlotte quickly tied the sachet’s string, her dark eyes coolly regarding the woman. “What were you trying to do? I won’t give you the antidote until you tell me.” 

“Someone… someone asked me to drug you so you’d be late getting back to the banquet hall. I swear I wasn’t trying to hurt you! Please, give me the antidote!” The pain was too much for the server to bear, forcing her to spill everything she knew. 

Charlotte narrowed her eyes. So, she was the target? 

Only Sarah would try something like this against her here. 

She still hadn’t learned her lesson, had she? 

Charlotte turned to leave. 

“Hey! You haven’t given me the antidote yet!” The server called out as Charlotte walked away. 

“Wash with cold water for five minutes. That’ll do it,” Charle replied coldly.
