Chapter 6: Desperate
Jasmine’s POV
I had mixed emotions when I saw her looking at me. She angrily walked towards me, and I was about to leave when she caught me and pulled my hair.
“Where do you think you’re going?!” Travis’ mom shouted, which made the guests look at me. The way they looked at me made me embarrassed. They looked at me like I was some kind of poor thing.
“I’m leaving now. Please let go of me,” I pleaded, but she only gave me a hard slap. I held my face, feeling the burning sensations. I looked at the stage, and I saw Travis blankly looking at me while Stacy looked at me in confusion and started to walk down towards us.
“How dare you come here?! Are you trying to ruin this party?!” she shouted angrily. I wanted to shout at her, too, but I didn’t want to make things worse. That’s why I just turned around. Before I could take my first step, she grabbed my hand again, and for the second time, I received another hard slap.
“I’m still talking to you Bitch!” She gritted her teeth.
“Mom, what’s going on?” Stacy looks at Travis’ mom. Does it mean that she doesn’t know about me and Travis?
“Wait, you look familiar” she pointed at me and nodded. I sigh, and I’m about to walk away when I see Travis looking blankly at me.
“This woman is trying to seduce your fiance Stacy! Look how pathetic she is! Dreaming of having a successful man for what?! For money, of course!” She laughed so loud that she made everyone murmur while judging me based on their looks.
I did not seduce Travis, and I am not trying to seduce him right now. And I have no intention of getting his money! How could she accuse me of something that I never did and I can’t do?
“What?” Stacy can’t believe what she heard. I wanted to talk, but Stacy slapped me without hesitation.
I held my face while Travis looked away. Is he not going to stop them? I laughed in my mind. Of course, why would he? We’re already divorced, and he had nothing to do with me.
“I can’t believe she has the guts to come here,” one of the guests said, looking at me with disgust on her face. She looks at me like I am some gold digger.
“Poor people will do everything for money now,” a lady said and smirked. I glanced at myself and at them, staring at me and judging me without knowing the truth.
“Is that true? Is that the reason why I saw you In Front of that door? Telling Travis’s name?!” she shouted while Travis held Stacy’s hand, trying to calm her down. I feel pity for myself. I do not belong here. I regret coming.
“Stacy,” Travis called her, but Stacy looked at him. Travis sighs and glances at me. He never showed mercy.
“Is that true, Travis?” Stacy’s voice became sad. I’m so stupid for coming here knowing that I’m an outcast.
I waited for his response while her mom was looking at me with rage.
“I told you, I don’t know her. Maybe she’s just one of my fans?” How many times do you want to hurt me with your words, Travis? We’ve been together for years, but you’re acting like you are telling everyone that you don’t know me.
“Stacy, darling, and everyone listen up! This woman is looking for a rich man that she can use as a victim and make herself a bait so she can earn money!” Everyone made a sound, and they even grabbed their partners near them.
