A glint of hostility Bashed in Ryan’s eyes as his fingers brushed against Nina’s slender neck, forcing her into an uncomfortable position where she had to tilt her head back to meet his gaze.

“Have you seen that man? What does he look like?” 

Nina’s pupils contracted slightly as she instinctively tightened her grip on the fabric of her night gown. 

She hadn’t expected Ryan to bring this up so suddenly. Did he suspect something? 

Feeling uneasy, Nina tugged at the comers of her mouth to force a stiff smile. “I saw him. Why? Are you that wary of the men around her? Worried she’ll end up with someone else before you do?” 

Using a teasing tone, Nina tried to cover her nervousness. 

She knew Ryan didn’t like her that much. He might even look down on her. But since he currently didn’t have another target, he was sticking with her to satisfy his 

desires 

still, even if he didn’t truly care for her, he couldn’t tolerate betrayal… 

If he discovered that she was entertaining thoughts of someone else, he wouldn’t let her off easily. 

If Nina hadn’t encountered someone as remarkable and distinguished as Wren, Ryan would have been the best option she could hope for. 

But fate had thrown her a curveball by introducing her to Wren and giving her a glimpse of something seemingly unattainable. 

How could she not take a shot at it? 

Still, she couldn’t afford to offend Ryan. She was self–aware enough to understand that the chances of Wren actually reciprocating her feelings were slim. She wanted to try but wasn’t willing to lose Ryan as a fallback option. 

With that thought, Nina deliberately unfastened the buttons of her nightgown and leaned into Ryan’s neck, her tone sultry yet laced with jealousy. 

“What’s so great about Clara? She avoids you all the time, yet you keep chasing after her. When did the dignified Mr. Chase become so desperate and shameless? “And now, you’re looking into the men around her? What’s the point? That woman isn’t as innocent as you think she is. Don’t let her sweet, pure act fool you. 

Ryan’s interest was instantly piqued by her words. “What do you know? 

“I know plenty. But would you believe me if I told you?” Nina scoffed lightly, pushing Ryan away before sitting down on the couch. 

“Stop playing games “He frowned in annoyance 

He bent over, grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the coffee table, lit one, and took a drag, “So, does that man actually have something going on with her?” 

She nodded. “Do you know who filled in for clara today?” 

“Herneighbor?” Ryan guessed. 

The memory of that man’s eyes still lingered in his mind. Even now, it sent a chill down his spine. 

That man’s gaze had conveyed a clear message. It was as if continuing to pester Clara would’ve led to regret so deep it would last a lifetime. 

That encounter had been enough to keep Ryan from returning to Clara’s place or making any further attempts to approach her.
