"Thank you," Xavien whispered as he sat on his chair.

I nodded, "So...why did you give us a free dinner?"

"No reason," he answered.

"Everyone has a reason."

His lips twitched a little, as if he were holding back a smile. "Don't you have a meeting to get to?" He mused, looking at me.

I sighed, "Yeah...that."

"Princess, don't let him treat you like that. He's clearly the possessive type of guy, he likes the idea of you being his."

"I know..."

I smiled at him before walking out, dreading dinner. I have no idea what is wrong with Gabriel, but it's becoming a little too much. He used to be a kind and caring guy, but now he has turned into some obsessive bastard. However, I took my seat at the table, refusing to even spare him a glance.

I smiled at Mr. Reeds instead, "Now, shall we get on with this meeting?"

"Well, I believe this project will work out marvelously. Now, I must get home to my wife, we're taking care of our grandkids this weekend," Mr. Reeds said, shaking our hands.

I smiled, "Have a good weekend, sir."

"Thank you, Miss. Summers. You do the same."

Once they left, Melody stood up and grabbed Gabriel's hand. "Scar, I have to speak with him, is that okay?" She asked.

I nodded, "You okay?"

She smiled, but I could tell it was forced. "Yeah, I'm good."

"No, none of this is your fault. I have no idea what his damn problem is, but he needs to sort himself out. I think being single will hopefully help him. That or he'll go to the bar and have one night stands with multiple women."

"Well, I'm off tomorrow and I believe we're going to your brother's car shop?" I grinned.

She nodded, "Yeah."

"So, I have money, we'll go to the grocery store and buy tubs of ice cream. Then, you can sleep over and we'll watch movies."

"That actually sounds great," she beamed.

Together, we got into her car and left. I looked at her rear view mirror to see Gabriel standing next to his car, more like leaning on it. He had his face buried in his hands and his body was shaking.

He was crying.

I turned my gaze away from the scene and looked at the road. No longer allowing myself to care for him anymore, he did this to himself. No one else.
