Scarlett's POV
I silently got into Gabriel's car, frowning when I saw Melody wasn't with us. Uneasiness flowed through me at his cold stare, my heart started hammering against my chest as I grabbed onto my seat belt.
"You look stunning," he whispered, his voice husky.
I swallowed, "Thank you, but let's focus on getting to the meeting. Where's Mel?"
"She's meeting us there, she wasn't ready yet."
"Oh."
I glanced at him when he kept moving, I was puzzled until I saw the bulge in his pants. I swiftly tore my gaze away, blushing in embarrassment for him when he looked at me. He released a breath, his grip tightening on the steering wheel. As he silently drove to the restaurant, the bulge had gotten larger. He was now clenching his jaw, his knuckles turning white from his iron grip.
"You know, we could pull over and you could help me?" He suggested suddenly.
I almost threw up in my mouth at what he was suggesting, "You're joking, right? You're dating someone! God, you're such a pig."
"Come on! She wouldn't care!"
"You're disgusting!"
He continued wining the entire drive there, eventually I was able to tune him out. Wishing I didn't have to be in this damn car right now. I slammed his door shut, disgusted by his attitude. I stormed into the restaurant, still unable to process the fact he had actually done that. Once I found our table, I quietly sat down, smiling at the two men.
"Mr. Reeds?" I asked.
The man smiled, "That would be me and this is my secretary, Mr. Williams."
I shook both of their hands before taking a sip of my water, "Mr. Stone shall be here soon."
"No rush, the meeting doesn't have to start right at seven-thirty. So, how is Mr. Stone doing, now that you two are divorced?"
I chuckled, "So, you know?"
"You were all over the news that day. I'm shocked you're working for him still."
"Yes, well, I needed a job. Thankfully, Mr. Stone isn't as heartless as everyone would like to believe. He's doing quite well."
He's just a hypocrite.
"And you?"
I smiled, "Just trying to survive."
After fifteen minutes, Gabriel sat beside me, his cheeks holding a rosy tint to them. Mr. Reeds smiled and greeted him before giving him a questioning look.
"Where is the new, future Mrs. Stone?" He asked.
"I want my brother to go to his office and rest. Go, we'll wait for our waitress to come," Melody told him.
Xavien nodded, but his face had grown extremely pale. Concern grabbed me when I saw him swaying a little, without thinking, I rushed to his side. He stiffened when I wrapped my arms around him, but I ignored it.
"I'm going to help him," I said softly.
Melody smiled, "Thank you."
I nodded as I went to help him walk, but Gabriel was suddenly standing up.
"Melody can take care of her own brother, you're job is to stay here and take notes during the meeting," he snarled.
"Actually, I need some time to read over the menu," Mr. Reeds commented. "Please, Mr. Stone, treat your secretary with some respect."
Gabriel glared at me, "She doesn't deserve any."
I gritted my teeth, my eyes not leaving his for a while. Xavien suddenly tightened his arm around me, pulling me from Gabriel's gaze. I looked at him to see him smiling tiredly at me.
"Come on, I think you need to get away from him for a little while," he whispered.
I silently agreed with him as we slowly walked to his office.
