"I need these files sorted through and then I need you to cancel two of my meetings. Afterwards, I want you to come into my office so I can take you to the cafeteria," Xavien grinned.
I nodded as we passed people bye, both women and men stared at me with jealousy and curiosity. I held my head up high though, refusing to look like a coward before them. I was basically bullied by my ex-boss, I didn't need them targeting me.
"This is your office....a little big, but oh well," Xavien explained.
I smiled, "Thank you."
I frowned as I stared at the desk, "Xavien?"
"Yeah?" He whispered, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"I still owe you mo-
"No, you don't owe me anything anymore. But promise me one thing."
"What?"
He gently caressed my cheek, "Don't ever leave me."
A smile made itself to my face, "I won't."
As if realizing he was being vulnerable, he quickly pulled away, clearing his throat. "I...um...I have to go."
I nodded, silently watching as he walked out of the office, holding a confused expression. I shook my head, telling myself not to be a fool this time. Xavien is nothing like Gabriel, that much is clear, but he's scared. Him and Darius are the type of men to have a moment of weakness, where they'll show their true feelings. But then, they freeze up, realizing their scars are open. Bleeding out all of their pain and fears, showing us who they really are. I sat down, releasing a breath as I started my work.
"It has only been two weeks since Gabriel was 'kidnapped'," Mel voiced. "You don't think Marco seriously wants revenge?"
Xavien shook his head, "No, he wants to destroy us. Gabriel is only his puppet, something he doesn't mind losing."
I quickly parked my car and jumped out, snatching my keys. All three of us sprinted inside, immediately going for the stairs. As we neared my apartment, my heart began slamming against my chest.
"Darius, open up!" Xavien demanded as he pounded on the door.
I sighed as I began searching for my spare key, mumbling profanities. I finally found it and shoved Xavien aside, surprising him. As soon as we opened the door, nothing looked out of place.
Except for the muffled screams coming from the hallway leading to my room and the bathroom.
