Without waiting for a response, she walked past him and headed toward the payment counter 

Jeremy’s brows furrowed slightly as he followed behind her. 

She was aware of his presence but didn’t acknowledge him. She simply went ahead, paid the fees, and returned to the emergency department. 

All of the children had varying degrees of food poisoning and needed either induced vomiting or medication, but Orply had it worst. The poor girl had to have stomach pumped 

While waiting outside the procedure room, Felicia tumed to Melody. “How did this even happen?” 

Melody shook her head as she had no idea. 

Her eyes were filled with worry. She had already informed Lydia, but because the orphanage was still in the middle of filming with the charity program, she couldn’t leave 

“Miss, is Orphy going to die?” A timid voice broke the silence. 

Melody looked down to see a little boy staring up at her. 

His clothes were old and didn’t fit him well, but they were clean. He was small and thin, and his head looked slightly too big for his body due to malnutrition. 

She gently patted his head and replied softly, “No, she won’t. Just like you, she has a stomachache from eating something bad. Once the doctor takes care of her, she’ll be fine.” 

The little boy hesitated. “Is the doctor really that amazing?” 

Hergaze softened as she answered solemnly, “Yes, he is.” 

Jeremy stood nearby, watching her as she crouched down, speaking gently with the child. 

Even though she was anxious, she remained calm and soothing, giving off a quiet sense of reassurance 

Since Melody would be helping out at the orphanage today, she had tied her hair into a ponytail and dressed in simple sportswear, looking like a student. Sensing his gaze, she hesitated before looking up. “Don’t you need to get back to your department?” 

Jeremy glanced at the children waiting quietly nearby. He had never liked lads, but his sense of duty as a doctor made him say, “I’ll request leave from my „supervisor.” 

She was taken aback. “Why?” 

“Food poisoning is serious, especially when it happens to multiple prople at once. I recommend that all the children at the orphanage undergo a full health screening. His voice was calm, his dark eyes fixed on her. 

He felt a ripple in his heart but told himself it was just professional instinct–he couldn’t turn a blind eye. 

She understood that all too well, but a full screening would cost too much. The orphanage might not be able to afford it.

Lowering her voice, Melody suggested, “I’ll talk to Madam Callahan about it when I head back” 

“There’s no need.” He glanced at the children before looking back at her. His expression didn’t change as he continued, “We’ll do the screening now.” 

She was about to respond when he added, “I’ll cover the cost. I’ll arrange it with the hospital.”
