ELEANOR
After the introduction, we headed to our table, filling in the two vacant seats prepared beforehand by the Wind Winders Wolf Pack. As I sauntered down the stage, I felt as though my heart was freaking ready to jump out of my chest when I stood in front of that large crowd of ten different packs looking up scrutinizing me.There was a loud, ringing sound reverberating through my eardrums as I walked side by side with Alexander, his strong, calloused hand clasping mine so tight as he led me straight to our table. At one point, my eyes wandered to my old pack's.
‘It’s them,’ Ares growled lowly, spotting Barbara and Paula boring holes at my chest, glaring at me with eyes full of jealousy and hatred as they watched Alexander tug at my hand softly.
Something was not right. I could feel Ares pace back and forth inside my head as though she was desperate for air. Suddenly, a low growl erupt from my chest. I shot my eyes up then towards my surroundings, thankful it was not heard by anyone due to the background noise of people talking, laughing, wine glass clinking, as well as the upbeat music playing while some teens glided to rock the dance floor showing off their moves.
There were eight pairs of alphas and lunas from different packs who joined our table not long after we were seated. All alphas were seated on the left side of the table. On the other hand, all lunas gathered on the right where I was blended right into, still with Alex on my left and me on his right. Although he had introduced them to be before they were seated, I could barely remember the names of each one.
Meanwhile, Alex was busy entertaining the other pack alphas that gathered around our table tonight. While I quietly listened to their lunas gossip even as they tried to include me in the conversation.
"So, how did you and Alpha Alexander meet?" The woman with sunflower blonde hair asked, almost too enthusiastically that I felt myself cringe.
I racked my brain to find a good excuse as an answer to the luna's question.
"Oh uhm we met back at my old pack" I said, plastering a forced smile on my face while I avoided their curious gazes all over me.
"And how did you feel when you met him for the first time?"
My mind went blank for a second when the others suddenly began shooting me different questions one after the other.
"Did he kiss you at first sight?"
"Did you run into each other's arms when you sensed it?"-Woman 2
"Was it amazing?"-Woman 3
"Was it magical?"
The other woman with ash gray hair asked, her eyes gleaming dreamily as she rested her elbows on the table and collided her palms to cup her small face. The others were laid back, each holding their glasses of wine in their hand as they pinned me with their eyes, watching me with utmost curiosity, almost as if their minds were already being filled with imagination as they looked back at me then at Alex.
"Calm down, ladies. One at a time." Luna Savannah gave us a soft smile, giving way for silence to pass our side of the table before they focused their eyes on me.
I gulped, feeling a sweat trickle down the side of my face although I kept my composure and nodded.
"Yes, it was,"
"How lucky you are," My enhanced senses didn't spare me from hearing the woman with short raven black hair grunt, murmuring to herself as she rolled her eyes slightly at the far corner of the table opposite from me.
I wasn't sure if the others heard that, but I certainly did. When I looked at the woman, she pulled up an annoyed face, averting her eyes from me and instead looked down on the steak left untouched on her plate.
Just as the others were about to bombard me with another set of unpredictable questions, I sensed it.
This scent, the scent of the man who promised me the world, then tore it all asunder before my very eyes.
“Sorry we are late, Alpha Arragon.” My head instantly shot up at the sound of that terribly familiar voice.
“Victor, Sandra! Where have you been? We’re starting to worry you didn’t accept our invitation to your own daughter’s party.” Alpha Arragon rose to his feet, carrying his glass in his hand then raising it towards my father’s direction. My mother stood elegantly right by his side, clutching his arm gently as she displayed her best people pleasing smile.
“Oh we wouldn’t miss it for the world,” My mother spoke softly, almost angelic and it easily ignited a hot ball of fire burning deep within me.
