BARBARA

"YOU fucked the wolfless Adrian Wade?!!!" Paula couldn't contain her ravaging emotions and she stood abruptly from her seat. My eyes flew wide open the moment I heard the door crack open like a merciless thunder during an endless storm.

Groaning, I said to myself, 'I knew this would happen'. I rolled my eyes briefly, wishing I could stuff that loud mouth of hers with my fist shoved down her throat.

"Sshh!" Placing a finger on my lips, I grabbed her wrist and plopped her back down the chair right beside me.

Immediately, I scanned the hall to check if there was anyone tuning in to our conversation. I noticed some males exchange glances with each other whilst the others whose backs turned on us peered at me over their shoulders.

Clearing my throat, I pulled Paula's neck sharply towards my lips and locked her in place, reaching her through mindlink.

'I can't talk here. It's not safe' I say and she stares at me in utter bewilderment.

Rolling her chocolate brown eyes, she pressed her lips firmly together and took in the sight of the hall one last time. Some males were gathered around one table, two of which remains persistent in checking out our asses once we stood to pick up our trays.

'Fine. Let's go somewhere else first. I want to know everything' Paula mouthed each word and I rolled my eyes at her as we stood up from our seats. Hurriedly we sprinted to the kitchen and left, heading to one of the rooms on the middle floor of the packhouse. It took me thirty minutes to explain every little detail about me finding out we were mates til the night of the Royal Winders' Dinner.

Paula almost squeaked when I slapped my hand over her mouth. I made a frown as I stared into her chocolate eyes.

"Be quiet!" I hissed, making her nod several times while desperately trying to suppress her own overflowing excitement. I could tell just by the look in her eyes as well as the sly grin plastered on her face that she's definitely feeling more enthusiastic about this than I'll ever be.

She giggled, twirling a finger around her hair and swaying her hips while she stood there staring at me wide-eyed.

"Don't you think he's hot? Sure he's wolfless and all but he's also the eldest of the Wade family. They rule the strongest pack in all of the United States, and do you know what that means?" Paula leaned her upper body over the table, while I sat back on my chair with my arms folded against my chest, raising an eyebrow as I watched her smirk once again.

"What?" I asked impatiently. My feet tapping the floorboard in rapid speeds.

Paula smiled and leaned closer to my ear.

"It means you can be the Luna of that strongest pack without Alexander and Eleanor in the picture,"

Almost immediately, my tapping feet came to an abrupt halt. I narrowed my eyes at her and she looked at me with enthusiasm in her chocolate eyes.

"You know what? That's a great idea. Feasible even. But there's just one thing..."

"What?" Paula knitted her brows tightly together.

"The alpha wouldn't let me. I'm chained to him, do you understand?"

I rose to my feet, ignoring Paula's questioning gaze as I sauntered to the door.

"Barb! Where are you going?" She calls from behind. I didn't spare a glance for her and exited the room, leaving my best friend alone, dumbfounded. She probably thinks I've gone crazy now and I chuckled to myself.

I turned my head in search of Alpha Victor's office. Tracing the steps I made on the very day I became the alpha's dog.

I was 13 years old. On the same night of the alpha's daughter's 13th birthday party, everyone was busy with the catering and preparation to accomodate more guests to come. I must have been so bored that I decided to go up the stairs and peek through some rooms until... until I heard Alpha Victor's voice. The halls echoed with the sounds coming from Alpha Victor's office. The sounds of laughter and chuckles, almost devilish and it almost made me want to step back. Nonetheless I gathere up my courage and walked nearer to his door. There was a tiny gap allowing me to see what was going on inside it.

"Should we kill her?" Luna Sandra's voice resonated through the room and I kept my breathing low. Afriad they'd see me spying on the both of them while they talked about killing someone.

But who?

"No, no. I've a better idea." This time it was Alpha Victor who spoke.

"We'll use her curse to reach our goals instead." Curse? There is only one curse circulating within the Blue Mountains Pack. The curse of the blood-red wolf. But why exactly are they talking about it?

I saw the alpha form an evil grin through the gap, and I shuddered while hearing the tone in his voice.

He was dead serious. That I could tell.

"And how do you propose we do that?" Luna Sandra crossed her leg over the other, gripping a glass of wine and raising it to her lips.

Alpha Victor turned his back towards me, making me frown.

"Before the curse take its effect, she'll be given as a peace offering to our greatest enemy. Alpha Alexander."

I felt my body stiffen at his words. Alexander? The soon-to-be Alpha of Red Silverwood Pack?

I always had a crush on him since we met at school. He barely shows up in any of our classes but at least I get to see him once a week. I hear he loves to go to parties and hanging out with other boys in the school. That is why I usually dress up in case I stumble upon him in one of those parties.

Suddenly, I could feel heat rush to my face and body.

I wanted to be Alexander's girlfriend, but what were the alpha and luna talking about when they said...
