Chapter 43 novel Alpha's Cursed Mate
Noah's POV
The werewolf who smelled like the sun and plants I hated the most was most wise not to bring the others over to die. My mind was quickly thinking about the choices I should make and the consequences that would arise in the moment, and if the werewolf intended to strike, I had little certainty that I could kill them both.
So I chose to talk to him, and I made a completely innocent face. "What is me? I don't have much to do with you, do I?"
The strong werewolf came around behind me, and it looked like they weren't going to let me go.
"Don't play dumb, did you do the attack against the wolves?"
"Do you believe me when I say it wasn't?"
"I don't believe it, so you'll have to come with us. I'll interrogate you myself."
"Interrogation? Who do you think I am? A werewolf." His condescending attitude made me want to laugh as I calculated how much time I could get to escape by attacking his men first.
"I'm guessing you're a pure-blood vampire, so you'll have to come with us."
The werewolf Alpha and his men slowly closed in on me as my claws and teeth grew. I suddenly turned back and scratched the tall werewolf in the eye with my claws and he let out a savage roar of rage. The Alpha was also enraged and he lunged at me. I dodged his attack by relying on my vampire speed.
His face slowly emerged with brown fur, and I guessed he was about to transform. His clothes were torn to shreds and I stared at his body where the arteries were. His men were shielded behind him and his attention was not all on me. This is my chance. I slit my wrist, my blood forming a mist of blood in the air.
While their view is blocked, I walk up behind him and bite his companion's neck. But the big brown wolf smelled me, and the moment my teeth were next to my skin, he crashed through me. I felt my ribs cracking as the "cackle" of healing bones rattled through my body.
The other wolf regained some vision and he looked in my direction. I couldn't drag it out any longer, I couldn't kill two thick-skinned wolves at once. I fished a revolver loaded with mercury bullets out of my belt and shot at the brown wolf. He dodged my first two shots, and my third shot went to his men, and sure enough he got in front of his companion.
That's what wolves are like, pack animals that can't give up their companions, uncivilized beasts. I threw away the unloaded gun in my hand and turned to run toward the woods. But the wolf's blood smell told me that he did not give up chasing me. The wounded wolf landed in front of me by virtue of his skill in his own territory, and the bullet holes in his body were still bleeding.
There were only two of us here, and killing him couldn't have been easier. I rushed to him and stabbed my claws into the wolf's body, his fur thicker than I could imagine. The wolf turned his head and bit into my wrist, which was absolutely broken by his bite, and I now desperately needed blood to heal myself.
He bit down on my hand and wouldn't let go, and another footstep came to my ears. It seemed to be his companion looking for him. I was considering whether it was worth losing a hand here or not. In the end I gave up the struggle, because the people coming were not his men. Instead, it was Beta, who I knew from the Eclipse wolf pack.
He stabbed me directly through the body with a silver dagger. I felt my wounds burning as Ethan spun the dagger in his hand with a sinister expression on his face. He tried to speed up my blood loss while Anthony mouthed something in the language of wolves that I couldn't understand before Ethan finally stopped moving.
Finally the big man's men arrived and he shielded the badly wounded Anthony behind him. The werewolf growled in anger, clenching his sandbag-sized fist. I think he wanted to smash my skull with his fist. But his blood-covered alpha stopped him, and that was the scene I saw before I was knocked unconscious by the big werewolf.
The icy water was as cold as if it had pierced my bones, and I opened my own swollen eyes. Not surprisingly, I was in a damp, cold dungeon. Anthony was standing in front of me, and behind him sat Lance, the Alpha of the Legion, whom his Beta had supposedly called over, and I couldn't help but be a little worried about what was going to happen to me afterwards.
"We left you alive for a reason, tell us what you know."
"I know a lot more than the limited brain capacity of a werewolf. What do you want me to say?"
