Anthony's POV

To keep Noah conscious, we would feed him a little animal blood from time to time. noah said he hadn't had animal blood in decades, and it still tasted as disgusting as ever. The jailer would whip him and ask him some fixed questions. Over time Noah would no longer want to answer us.

And Lance always came over at night, which I asked for. I didn't want my men to see him casually entering our wolf pack. He would be out there gathering some intelligence. To be honest, he has an intelligence network that no wolf pack can match. I don't doubt that I have his spies in my wolf pack either, because that's the Legion's style.

Every time Lance came, I was thrown out of Noah's cell. He says my sympathy is an opportunity to give the enemy a chance, but I don't actually have sympathy for Noah. I just think what he's doing is inhumane.

"I'm not the one he almost killed, and you think I'm inhumane." Lance taunted me like that.

Then we had a fight, but Lance arrived the next night with a piece of information.

"This is what my people found." Lance spread his hand, a small shiny badge in the palm of his hand.

"A little crown, what does that mean?"

Lance rolled his eyes at me, "It's the insignia of the Lasombra family, my people found it from an elite vampire. They lost a lot of money trying to kill that vampire."

"The Lasombra family? I remember that their family has declined."

"It seems you don't know everything. Yes, their entire family has collapsed since one of their most powerful leaders died in the war. Now they don't have many people left."

"So what reason do they have to declare war with the wolves?"

"I'm wondering about that too, or maybe the vampires of other clans are using the badge to hide their identities."

"Those are questions that will need to be answered by our 'guest'."

Just as I was leading Lance to his cell, a jailer ran up to me very anxiously. He stopped in front of me, panting.

"What's happening?"

"Report Alpha, the special prisoner has escaped."

"What?!" Lance and I let out a gasp at the same time.

"Tell Beta William to go after it!" After I gave the order to the jailer, I hurried to the cell.

When I rushed to the cell, it was like a hellish scene before my eyes. The jailers at the escape scene had all been killed, and their blood was everywhere on the walls and floor. The sticky blood rang out with a fearful watery sound under my feet.

The prisoners were cowering in the corner, and I wanted to open the door to their cells to see how they were doing. But they pulled the door shut and wouldn't let anyone in. I went into Noah's cell, where the jailer responsible for his torture had been drained of blood.

Anger boiled in my heart, and my fist slammed against the bars. The bars instantly bent out of shape, and the blood dripping from my bones fused with the blood on the floor.

Lance did not say a word, his face expressionlessly observing everything around him. I wanted to pick him up by the collar and give him a punch, and then ask him aloud, your kind was slaughtered, you do not have a ripple in your heart? But what little sanity remained kept my clenched fist from swinging out, and I told myself that he was supposed to be that kind of person, a tyrant without a heart.

"You shouldn't have let your people get that close to him." After a while of silence, Lance suddenly spoke.

"What did you say?!"

"The jailer got too close to him when he was feeding, and he compelled the jailer after he got his strength."

"You mean it's my fault?" My teeth were crunching.

"There's your fault, and there's the jailer's fault. You both underestimate vampires."

The last vestiges of my sanity were wearing off as my fist slammed towards his arrogant face. lance dodged and dodged my attack. I continued to lunge at him, each of my attacks angry and deadly. I hadn't been this mad in a long time, not even when my life was in danger.

Lance was fast, his alpha aura deadening me. He grabbed my arm as I swung past him and gave me a backbreaker. I rolled off the ground and got up, his face still grim and unchanged. I raised my foot and swept it into his neck, and he elbowed me off my knee. I attacked him tirelessly.

"That's enough!" He spun around before pressing my head against the wall, which made a loud thud. "Don't take your anger out on me."

"I hope you have the same attitude when your people die." I smacked his hand away and there was some blood running down my nostrils and the corners of my mouth.

"Don't be a child, I won't let my people die." Lance amplified his aura and I had some trouble breathing. He was angry. "I should have killed you from the moment you launched your attack on me. But, out of respect for your dead clan members. That's why I'm talking to you more."

Respect? Did I hear that word from the mouth of the Alpha of the Legion? But his words did slowly calm the anger in my veins.

"Did you find it?"
