That was surprising. He’d agreed to it without giving it much of a second thought. I didn’t know whether to be impressed or to laugh.
“Cut the big talk.” I scoffed. “I know Galaxy Pack’s funds are limited.”
“It’s okay. I can pay for whatever you want.” He replied, his voice smooth and clear.
I didn’t know whether it was his words but it felt like a small weight had been lifted off my shoulders. My mood felt much better than it had been this morning when I first got to the office.
“Okay then. Things should go smoothly from this point on.” I noted, writing down a couple of things.
“If it’s not too much,” he said after some time had passed. “I’d like to meet with you, Giselle.”
I paused. “Why?”
“Come on, Giselle. Humour me this one time.” He insisted.
I thought about it for some time before finally letting out a sigh. “Fine. Where do you want us to meet?”
After a small pause, he continued. “Boire Café. You know the place, right?”
“I do,” I answered, “Be there soon.”
I ended the call and let out a breath. So far, I’d say my day had pretty much been a whirlwind. First an alteration with Tina, now I was going to meet up with Froste. Something told me my day would get even crazier as time went on.
By the time I arrived at the café, the sun was already pretty high in the sky. I entered the café, my eyes already looking around to see if I’d spot Froste.
My lips pulled into a frown when I still couldn’t see him. Until they landed on a face I didn’t think I’d ever get to see again.
He had seen me as well, his wife with surprise. “Giselle?”
“Jack.” I said, unable to hide my happiness.
Jack was Froste’s last beta and had been my best friend during my time at Galaxy Pack. He got up from his seat and opened his arms for a hug. I let him wrap his arms around me, allowing memories of our years of friendship fill my brain. He was really here. In the flesh too.
Jake’s eyes flickered in amusement. He must have realized I was trying to deflect the question. Luckily, he didn’t go back to it anymore.
“He’d want an estate that checks all his boxes. It could be a sprawling villa with a good number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Bonus if it has a private movie theatre.”
I noted all this down as he went on. “It should have a modern design with lush gardens. The estate’s private security should take priority overall. Some smart home features would make it really nice. If it has some stunning views of a coastline, that’ll really tie everything together.”
I hummed, taking note of all he’d said. When I was done, I went through my notes to make sure I’d gotten all Jake had said.
“I can work with this.” I smiled.
“I bet you can.” Jake sent me a playful wink.
We were still discussing some other things when I noticed something from the corner of my eyes. I turned to the clear window, watching two women who happened to be standing there. They were peering closely at the café, their eyes squinted in suspicion.
Jake must have noticed my gaze. “Do you know them?”
