He was pacing in the living hell of their apartment, Eva had been gone for hours now. Her cell was also switched off when he had tried to call her many times since the evening.

Robin had told him he had dropped her right after her school finished and even the security guard of their building had confirmed that she had come at her usual time and had left after an hour with Emma.

Mateo had called a few of her friends which he knew, and they had all said the same thing that she had not contacted any of them.

He was considering going to the police station to file a missing report, when he heard the door lock click, he left the living room and went into the corridor.

He felt a sigh of relief when he saw Eva enter their apartment but something felt off, she was alone, Emma was not with her.

He was about to ask her about Emma when he noticed her tears, why was Eva crying?

"What happened?" He asked her worriedly.

Eva didn't reply to his question; she just ran straight into his arms and started crying heavily. Mateo was worried, she had never done anything like that.

There were many questions which he wanted to ask her, but he withheld them till her sobs subsided, he didn't know how much time had passed.

"He took her, someone took Emma", finally she said.

Mateo was shocked, he couldn't figure out what she was trying to say.

He was devastated on hearing that someone had taken Emma, she was not his biological child but he has always loved her like his own

" Who took her? Her father?" He asked, lifting her chin with his fingers and looked at her.

Eva was looking completely ragged, there was a hint of her mascara and liner which had smudged around her eyes.

Her hairs were a complete mess, her eyes were swollen due to crying, her nose had turned red and her lips were trembling.

"Someone kidnapped Eva, they have some vendetta against her father", She replied.

Mateo looked at her startled, who was Emma's father? And who were his enemies? That they have gone to such an extent as to kidnap his daughter for revenge.

He was about to ask her when the doorbell ranged, they both looked at each other. They had very few friends in the city and no one visited them uninformed.

Mateo pulled away from Eva and walked towards the door, when he opened the door he was surprised to see two strangers at the door.

" Mateo Rodriguez?" One of the men asked.

And I would like to see my daughter's photographs and her video footage. They will be crucial for the search so if you Ms. Smith will not waste more of my time and just hand me over those will be a great service" He added.

Mateo looked at the man seated in front of him carefully, and then as if something clicked in his mind and he said: " You are the man from the mall, who found Emma that day".

The man looked at him astonished for some seconds and then Mateo saw a flash of recognition in his jade green eyes.

"When?" Eva asked, surprised.

"Last Sunday, when I took Emma to the mall, and you were mad, after seeing the robots and chocolates", Mateo reminded her.

" She was my daughter, that is why I felt so hollow after she left", Mateo heard the man speak.

For the first time, he felt some emotions in the man's voice since he had entered his home. Mateo was completely shocked as the events were unfolding before him.

"Taimur, the agents are in the parking lot, they will be here in a few minutes" The other man who had come along with Emma's father said.

Mateo was startled on hearing the man's name, it rang a bell in his mind and then he looked at the man seated in front of him.

"Bloody unbelievable, you are Taimur Al Jahaan", Mateo said astounded.
