Eva
She completed her daily chores with an absent mind, the whole time she was thinking about Emma and what she must be doing?
How terrified she would have been without her and Matt, Eva couldn't stop thinking about her.
She and Matt had been awake all night, they couldn't sleep for a minute and when she was about to drift off to sleep due to exhaustion, Stryker had brought the CCTV footage.
Then they had sat watching them till Riyadh and Taimur had arrived, and the discussion lasted till morning.
Mateo didn't want to go to work, he was worried about leaving her alone with Taimur, but Eva had forced him to go because she knew it was the best thing.
She had called in sick to her school and was now thinking about what they could do to find Emma. Right now they were at a dead end until the kidnapper called.
She went into the living room to collect the dishes from the breakfast, McGill was not in the living room and Taimur was asleep on the couch.
He had looked exhausted when he came in the morning as if he hadn't slept, maybe he didn't sleep. Emma was his daughter, he might not have lived with her and not have known about her before yesterday but he definitely has feelings for her.
She picked the tray and went into the kitchen, then she took out a spare blanket from the closet and went back into the living room.
She was nervous going close to him, she knew he was a light sleeper only a little sound and movement were enough to wake him up.
She stood at the foot of the couch looking at him, debating to cover him or not with the blanket. He was asleep for sure, those jade green eyes were closed, his lips were a little apart.
He looked so peaceful in sleep, there was no sign of the rage and barbarity on his face. She took a step closer and leaned and put the blanket on him.
As she was about to cover his shoulder with the blanket when he opened his eyes, Eva's breath stopped. She was leaning on him a few inches away from his face, she could see the red lines that had formed in his eyes due to sleep.
His eyes were locked with her and it seemed as the time had stopped, she wanted to pull away from him but didn't know what was stopping her.
Her eyes closed as he traced a line on her cheek, down to the hollow of her neck where her pulse was beating wildly.
There was a click from the washroom door, Eva pulled away and moved a step back from him, Taimur's hand was still in the air and his gaze on her.
Eva turned and nearly ran out of the living room, how could she let him touch her. All he had done since he came back was humiliate her and she still let him touch her, made her feel things she never wanted to feel.
She was sitting on a barstool near the kitchen counter, her head resting on the counter when she felt his presence in the kitchen.
The air charged up when he was around, his scent was there in the air, she slowly lifted her head from the counter and looked at him.
He was standing in the kitchen door, looking at her. There was a storm of emotions in his green eyes as he walked towards her. His eyes looked so green and intense.
Eva sat there frozen unable to move and unable to breathe.
"I want you to stop", He said as he stood inches away from her.
"Stop what?", She asked, swallowing the lump in her throat.
"Stop what you are doing to me, I want you to stay away from me, I don't want to think about you like this, I don't want to feel about you like this. You make me lose control", He said rubbing his hands on his face in frustration.
Eva wanted to slap him, she wanted to yell at him, tell him that it was what he made her feel every time he was around her. And this was what she never wanted to feel again, she never wanted to think about Taimur again.
He opened his mouth to say something further, but his cell phone started ringing in his pocket. He removed it from his pocket and said "It's him", as he walked out of the kitchen towards the living room.
Eva hurried after him, McGill who was busy doing something on the laptop looked at both of them, Taimur pointed towards his cell.
"You son of a bitch, you said you won't harm her", Taimur yelled.
" Listen Jahaan, I don't think you are in a position to shout at me like this, you better behave or I might plan something for your little girl", He snapped.
"Please don't harm her", Taimur's rage had vanished within seconds.
" As long as you behave Jahaan", he replied and disconnected the call.
Eva who was listening to the conversation broke down and started crying, she was terrified.
The man sounded evil, and she knew he could go to any extent to hurt Taimur, what if he had done something to Emma?.
"Mrs. Rodriguez, everything will be fine" McGill tried to comfort her.
She knew he was trying to console her and she knew nothing was going to be fine, they were helpless. Her daughter was at the mercy of that sadist.
She noticed Taimur staring at her with sympathy in his eyes, she didn't know what overtook her. She closed the distance between them and slammed into his chest, sobbing.
She felt McGill walk out of the living room, as Taimur wrapped his arms around her.
"She will be fine, I promise you. I won't let anything happen to her, he wants me and he won't harm Emma until he gets me", He said rubbing her back with his fingers.
It was a Platonic gesture, nothing romantic in it, still she felt calm. His touch was enough to soothe her nerves.
His words were enough to calm her mind, it felt like she was home again in his arms.
