Taimur
He was sitting on the dais, a sea of reporters was present in the hall in front of him. He had landed in Azmaayir last night and the first thing he did in the morning was to call a press conference.
He was trying to play his cards carefully, he didn't want to provoke any new controversy.
"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for coming here on such short notice. As you might have known I have been in the US for almost a month, and I am glad to inform you that this trip has proved to be beneficial for Azmaayir both politically and economically.
As we all knew, the declining prices of crude oil have hit the Middle Eastern economy really hard. But I am glad due to the efforts of our beloved King Waleed, the economy of Azmaayir has been stable, and fortunately, we have been able to acquire a few interested investors for the Industrial city we have been planning.
The latest development in the politics of Azmaayir has been more than shocking for me, I can only imagine what it would have been for the people of Azmaayir.
We as a nation should be strong in these trying times, and we should always make the choices for the betterment of our great nation. I just wanted to assure the Azmaayiri people that I know you have been betrayed, by the people you have trusted your nation with and so was I.
As the Crown Prince and the External Affairs Minister of Azmaayir, I want to assure you, that justice will be served to the ones found guilty. You just have to trust the Judgement of His Majesty King Waleed Al Jahaan of Azmaayir who have been serving our country for more than four decades tirelessly", Taimur spoke, he had been practicing this for the last two days and was glad it had the desired effect on his audience.
"I have not been here with you all earlier, as I was caught up in very unfortunate events. You all have known my past, the way I was betrayed by the woman I had loved.
My involvement with the CIA to get to the RRH, who was responsible for the death of my grandfather and one of the greatest Kings our nation has seen. But what you don't know is what I am about to tell you now.
The Interpol and other agencies had suspected regarding me having a connection to the RRH and they have kept sending their operatives to spy on me.
As you all have known I was hurt and my heart was broken after my wedding was called off. And I have not been in a relationship with any woman since then, but when the Interpol sent one of their operatives to spy on me and to seduce me.
I am sorry to say that I am just a sinner, and I got distracted, I failed you all. Unfortunately, that operative got pregnant with my child and she left without informing me about this.
I only found out that I had a daughter when the bastard son of David De Costa, the head of RRH kidnapped my daughter. You can imagine what I have been through when I got a call from an unknown man, who told me that he had held my daughter captive, which I didn't even know existed till that day.
The US government and the FBI helped to recover my daughter in every possible way. And I am glad to inform you, she is safe, the RRH wanted me to surrender myself, to them in exchange for my daughter. Fortunately, we were able to formulate a plan and kill the kidnappers.
I know I have sinned and I seek to rectify it, I am going to give my daughter my name. I have wronged the people of Azmaayir and if they don't feel me worthy of my title, I will gladly give it up for a better contender.
But I just want to know to tell one thing, that I have always worked for the betterment of Azmaayir and the Azmaayiri people, and I will strive to do the same till my death even if I am stripped of my title.
I want to ask forgiveness from everyone whom I have wronged, though it is my personal matter, and being the Crown Prince, I still feel accountable in the eyes of my people.
If anyone of you has any questions, I will be glad to answer them", He finished his statement with a warm smile to the reporters and readied himself for the upcoming questions.
The hall was filled with buzz and it only died after a few minutes, when a lady journalist raised her hand for the question, Taimur nodded to her.
" Your Highness, I really appreciate your honesty, for a Royal to accept their mistake and ask for forgiveness, is nothing we have witnessed in our lifetime. I am a mother, and I can understand, what you have been through, and I wish no parents have to go through that ever again.
Though I have a question for you, How is your wife Her Royal Highness Alia Al Jahaan taking this?" She asked.
Taimur looked at the woman and nodded in appreciation for her kind words.
"Firstly, I would like to thank you for appreciating my effort, and regarding your question, my wife is really looking forward to having Emma, with us in Azmaayir", He replied in his usual tone.
A few more reporters raised their hands, Taimur's assistant pointed to one middle-age male journalist. He stood up and introduced himself and proceeded with his question.
"It's far from over Taimur, it was just the media. You took care of the council but have you imagined the reactions that will come from our neighbors," Riyadh looked at him with resentment.
"Do you think, I care about them? I have the US Government at my back. Our neighbors know better not to mess with me," Taimur replied in a carefree way.
"Taimur, you are going to regret this," Riyadh shook his head in agony.
"Everything comes with a price in this world Riyadh, and I can give my life for Eva and Emma," Taimur replied.
If only Eva would stop being so stubborn. He couldn't understand why she keeps denying her feelings for him. He knew she wanted him as much as he wanted her, and somewhere deep down she loved him. Taimur will be damned if he didn't make her confess her love for him.
"What about Alia, Taimur? Do you realize how you are taking her for granted? I never had imagined a man like you, who I had always looked up to you in life, would treat the woman who had been your biggest strength like some trash," Riyadh looked like he was trying hard to control his emotions.
"Alia will be the future Queen," Taimur replied.
"For God's sake, Taimur, it's the last thing she wants. She deserves decency and honesty from you. Set her free Taimur, she doesn't deserve to endure this pain and suffering you are inflicting on her by your actions," Riyadh's was gentle and there was a hint of nervousness to it.
"You know, well, Riyadh, I can't do that. She is my wife and the mother to my heirs. Only death will set us free," he replied in an exhausted tone.
"It's your decision at the end of the day, Tim, let's hope this press conference proves beneficial to your plan," Riyadh replied changing the topic.
He had rolled the ball and was waiting to see how farther it goes and how it snowballs. He knew the council members were super pissed at him.
Alia had told him how Sikander had threatened her, and Taimur knew if he got a chance Sikander won't hesitate to strike and Taimur had to make sure he didn't give his father that chance.
