After what happened at the mall with Enzo, I scheduled a meeting with my mother and Hebe. I needed to let them both know about the situation before traveling. Of course, Hebe was furious he’s a lioness mother, and after discovering Reynold’s true colors, she didn’t want him anywhere near the children.

I took the opportunity to tell them about the surprise I was preparing for Samantha. I was anxious and worried. My mother and Hebe tried to calm me down, saying that Sani would love it.

The rest of the week flew by, and early Saturday morning, we traveled to Sam’s grandmother’s house in the countryside, a bit far from our city. Samantha was excited and very animated. We arrived at her grandmother’s house at lunchtime. Sam went in like a child, running through the house until she found her grandmother in the kitchen and wrapped her in a long hug

“Grandmaaa!” Samantha was overjoyed.

“Sassy, my dear, I’ve missed you so much!” The petite lady with gentle eyes hugged Samantha.

“Grandma, I brought four very special people for you to meet.” Samantha released her grandmother from the hug and pulled her by the hand. “This is Henry, Grandma, my boyfriend. And these are Henry’s nephews Enzo and Clara. Everyone, this is my grandmother, Elenice.”

The lady welcomed us warmly, with a broad smile and lots of sweetness. She was the type of grandmother who embraced her grandchildren and always had a treat for them in the kitchen. She immediately made us sit down, as lunch was ready, and she had made french fries because Sam loved them. She greeted Pearl and Joaquin with the same affection and turned to the children and me.

“Sassy, my dear, where did you find this young man? He’s quite a catch, isn’t he?!” I smiled at Elenice ‘s words; she was fun.” And look at these kids, they look like they stepped out of a TV commercial!”

“Grandma, what if I told you I met Henry thanks to you?” Samantha said, already seated at the table.

“Thanks to me?” Elenice looked suspicious.

“I met him at the store where I bought your birthday present.” Sam explained, and the lady smiled.

“Well, a man of faith!” She looked at me with approval.

“A little bit,” I replied. “I was at the store buying a present for my mother; she has more faith than I do.”

“Mothers always do. We ask God to protect you when we can’t, and we have faith that He listens to us.” Elenice said, making me smile; I had heard my mother say something similar. “Sassy, and where’s the other person you brought to meet me? I only counted three, and you said four.”

“Ah! The other person…” Samantha stood up again. “The other person, Grandma, is right here.” Samantha placed both hands on her belly.

It was a beautiful scene to witness. Elenice put both hands on her face and couldn’t hold back her tears. Samantha started crying when her grandmother gently placed her hand on her still–flat belly.

“I can’t believe you’re giving me this joy of meeting my great–grandchild!” Elenice was crying with joy. “I need to go out, I need to buy wool and start knitting my great–grandchild’s layette.”

We all started laughing at Elenice’s excitement.

“Take it easy, Grandma, there’s time, it’s still very early, I’m only six weeks along,” Sam smiled.

“Time flies, sweetheart. After lunch, I’m going to the notions store to buy everything I need. I’m going to buy lots of blue yarn because I’m sure it’s going to be a boy,” Elenice started making plans faster than I could.

“How can you be so sure it’s going to be a boy, Grandma?” Samantha questioned.
