S2–Chapter 170
Samantha’s POV
After Romulus was no longer an issue, I was feeling much lighter and happier. I had the man I loved by my side, who not only said but showed me every day that he loved me just as much.
Henry was committed to making my days happy, but just having him around made me feel like the happiest woman in the world, living a perfect life with my love. I slept in his arms every night and woke up to his eyes sparkling at me – nothing could be more perfect than that.
The week flowed like this – he possessed my body every night before sleep and loved me every morning before we left the bed. I was getting spoiled with his kisses, touches, and affection.
At work, I managed to get everything done so I could take a few days off. When Thursday came, I was a bundle of nerves and completely anxious about the wedding that would take place on Saturday. I never thought I’d get like this, that these inexplicable bridal jitters would affect me too, since marriage had never been something fundamental in my life.
Perhaps all nervousness and excitement about the wedding was solely due to the fact that I had found the love of my life and would be joining him in the most traditional way humanity had established centuries ago – through matrimony, before the eyes of our best friends and family. But the fact was that I was anxious for the day to come.
Hebe and Melissa took charge of recruiting all the girls, and we were heading to the beach house on Thursday to oversee the setup of everything. The guys would arrive Saturday morning since the wedding would be at sunset. I confessed it was a bit grumpy about being away from Henry for two days.
Hebe picked me up at home early Thursday morning. Erica and Emilia were coming with us, and when I got in the car, they were already in party mode, laughing, talking, and singing. Their energy was inexhaustible.
We arrived at the house, and just as we got settled, the trucks with the wedding furniture started arriving. Melissa and Hebe worked tirelessly with huge smiles on their faces, as if they were masters of the universe. As for me, I was getting bored.
By Friday afternoon, I had nothing to do. Melissa and Hebe had taken such good care of everything that things seemed to happen on their own. So I sat somewhat grumpily by the pool.
“What’s wrong, Sam?” Manu approached and sat beside me.
“Everything’s so organized that I have nothing to do. I’m getting bored,” I complained, and Manu burst out laughing. “Don’t worry about that, bride,” Melissa appeared behind me, and I hadn’t even noticed her. “Here’s a list of things to pick up downtown. Can you guys go get them for us? Everything’s already paid for, just pick up and bring back.”
“Yay! Town, I’m in!” Emilia celebrated.
“Me too, maybe we’ll find some hot local guy along the way,” Erica came laughing.
“Take my truck so you can bring everything back,” Melissa stretched out the keys to Emilia, who took them gleefully.
“Let’s go, girls! A town awaits us!” Emilia pulled me along while Erica grabbed Manu by the arm.
The small town was very pretty, not big but had everything a tourist spot could offer. Everything was very clean and organized with a peaceful and picturesque atmosphere.
After completing half the tasks on the list, we needed a break – I never imagined picking up orders could be so tiring. We found a cute diner that had apparently delicious things in the display case and decided to have a snack.
We had just sat down when my phone rang. I looked at the screen and smiled before answering.
“My handsome!” I answered excitedly to talk to Henry. “You can’t imagine how much I miss you!”
“My goddess, I can imagine because I’m feeling the same way.” Henry was a romantic, even though he denied it at first.

“I didn’t even need to come early, Hebe and Melissa already did everything.” I complained like a child, and he laughed.
“Maybe I have something to cheer up your day.” Henry had an amused tone in his voice. “Look out the window.” I was confused but did what he said, more out of reflex.
He was there, outside the diner, across the street, leaning against the hood of his car, talking to me on his cell phone. I let out a little scream and jumped up excitedly, running to hug him. The girls took a few seconds to understand that I wasn’t having a psychotic break.
“My handsome!” I hugged him around his neck and gave him a kiss full of longing.
“My goddess!” Henry grabbed me by the waist and lifted me off the ground.
When we pulled apart, we were both in the middle of the street, breathless, trying to catch our breath, but his eyes were shining with joy as he looked at me.
