CHAPTER 48
BEST FRIEND
LINDY’S POV
She stares at me reluctantly.
“Hey.” I greeted with a fake saile.
Her neck started getting longer and she starts looking more like a giraffe as he kept looking over to what was behind me. I looked behind too just to double check if the boys were there or if they have left anything.
"Uhhh... What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Your mom called my mom and said I need to sleep over here tonight." She answered.
My eyes widened, “Really?”
She squints her eyes at me, "What's wrong?” She was quick to notice my reaction. “Your face looks like you've seen a ghost."
"Sleep over? Here? Tonight?"
She nodded. "What? Aren't you gonna let me in?" She chuckles her way inside the foyer.
I closed the door behind her squirming inwardly because I didn’t know how to tell her that One Direction is here. I know she is my best friend and I know I trust her but I don’t know if letting her know that One Direction is here inside my house will be something that she can keep a secret. I know how tactless Martha can be sometimes and I doubt if I should tell her but eventually I know I should let her know, especially about me and Harry.
She faced me again,"It smells like male perfume in here."
My heart started beating fast, “Really?”
"Are you with someone?!" She asked.
I shook my head.
"No. I'm... Alone. Wait, Martha you can't stay here tonight." I blurted.
"Why not?"
"It's Sunday." I answered.
"So? We'll go to class together tomorrow if I wanna go."
She walks to the kitchen and I hurriedly chased her. She sees the entire mess that the lads and I did when we were eating. Martha counts the cups and plats before turning to me, “Did you throw some kind of party without inviting me?” She asks.
“What?! No party.” I answered.
“I know you are hiding something, Lindy.”
“I’m not.”
“Then why are there five other cups and plates on your dining table?” She asks while crossing her arms against her breasts.
“It’s nothing. They’re just--” She cuts me off when she started heading out of the kitchen and rushed to the staircase.
"Wait! Wait! Martha wait!" I called out to her.
"What?" She turned her head to me.
I rushed in front of her and tried to stop her from going up to my room, "Where you going?" I asked curiously even if I know where she is heading to.
"Uhhh, upstairs to your room obviously?" She answered.
"No. We'll sleep at the living room tonight. Please?" I pleaded.
She paused. "You are hiding something." She blurted while crossing her arms together and smiling at me.
I gulped. "I'm not hiding anything Martha. I just wanna sleep on the living room. I mean, I've slept there since Friday." I lied.
She raised her eyebrow at me and said, "Lindsay Suzanne Bowman Swanepoel I know you so well. I know you better than your own twin. I know it when you're denying that you farted and blaming it to someone else, I know when you're hungry, when you're in love, when you're pissed and I know you so well when you're lying."
"I don't blame someone else when I fart!" I hissed.
This is a great example of a disadvantage when your best friend knows you too well.
"Martha I'm not lying!" I insisted.
She gasped and pointed behind me.
"Oh my god! Look who's that!" She exclaimed.
I turned my back and then she hurriedly ran upstairs towards my room. She tricked me!
"Martha!!" I yelled.
Shit.
"Martha c'mon! I told you I'm not hiding anything!!" I yelled so loud I could hint the boys to hide before she barges in.
"Shut up Lindy. I know you're hiding something. Maybe someone. Holy fuck, you're hiding your FuBu, are you?!" She chuckled loudly.
"My what?" I asked while trying to run after her.
"FuBu! Fuck Buddy! You're fucking someone inside your room before I got here, are you?!"
"What?!"
I hurriedly ran faster to grab her wrist and pulled her back making me stand in front of my door as we both played a little tug of war. "Martha stop.” I called out.
“Get out of the way.” She tells me playfully with a smile on her face.
“I'm not hiding a fubu or whatever or someone or something." I started saying while covering the door with my arms.
She just laughs at me.
"Why are you laughing?" I asked.
"You're always so obvious Lindy."
"What? I told you I'm not hiding anything or anyone."
"Then why are you so defensive?"
She smirked. Damn it, she knows I'm lying. She always smirks at me like that when she finds out I'm lying. "I'm not. It's just that.... that..." I trailed.
"That?"
"That my room is so very much dirty and it needs cleaning especially that Button made a mess."
She arched a brow as I am buying myself some time to fool her, “Button?”
I nod, “Yes. My dog.”
“You have a pet dog and you didn’t tell me?”
“Well, you were always absent. How can I tell you?”
She squints her eyes at me, “You cannot fool me Lindy. Open your goddamn door.”
“I swear to god I am not hiding anything or anyone. Also, I told you my room is super messy”
“I have always entered your room no matter how messy it is. And, I thought you've been sleeping at the living room so why is your bedroom dirty?" she asked with that smirk again.
I paused. "Because--"
