CHAPTER 82

#ItWasTheRightDecision

LINDY'S POV

“The five-piece English-Irish boyband One Direction had finally called it quits with their management after years of working together.” The TV reporter says out loud.

“Could you turn it up please?” I asked Martha politely who is lounging on the couch eating potato chips as she increases the volume.

“They left Modest?” Martha speaks.

“The band reportedly did not renew their contract with Modest management after it expired just recently due to incompatible differences and a few growing arguements which has been happening between both parties for the last couple of years behind camera.”

“Well, it’s about time they decided to leave that shitty management!” Martha exclaims.

“They recently have signed up for another huge management in London called DIVINE and looked really happy with their decision after leaving Modest. The lads tweeted about it and was looking forward for more better projects with the same band and same crew but under a different management. DIVINE had released a welcoming statement for the1D lads and had confirmed the news when they tweeted, We are all so happy to welcome to the family the One Direction boys! Looking forward to be working with everyone in the band!”

I sit next to Martha who looked focused on the news. “On the sidenote of this story, things have been heating up against Harry Styles and the big bosses of Modest. Yikes! After the 1D lad had released a statement about how the management threatened him to lie to the public about his highly controversial relationship with the Canadian girl Lindy Swanepoel, the crooner also dished out some hate that has been going around for years.”

“At least they are now saying your name right.” Martha commented as she tells me.

“Harry confirmed that he has been waiting for their contract to end with Modest so he can be free to transfer to another better management. He said on a recent interview that he has never been this happy before and was able to feel all the love and support from his family, friends and other celebrities who were talking about it on Twitter. The lads were also very supportive of Harry when he filed a case against Modest just recently. They were all looking very positive about the whole thing. His fans were then quick to show their support to the entire band and of course to Harry Styles and his ongoing trial against Modest. #ItWasTheRightDecision”

Martha turns to me and stares at me sternly. “What?”

“Arent you even going to contact Harry?” She asks.

“Why would I do that?”

“To show him some support. I mean, even if you’re no longer together, you can still show him your support as his friend.” Martha insists.

I didn’t answer as I turn off the TV and walked to the kitchen to avoid talking about Harry again. Martha tails me down, “Lindy it has been months.”

“I know.” I walk to the kitchen counter.

“You have to talk to the guy and forgive him.”

I didn’t answer.

Martha crosses her arms against her breasts, “He had his reasons why he denied you before. He was threatened by the management about blacklisting you from entering into universities. He was worreid for you and your future. He clearly did not want to ruin your education because of him. He had to give up his happiness for your safety and even though he did it in such an awful way, to the very end he was still thinking about you.”

I chose to remain silent as I grab the bag of potato chips from her hand. ‘At least he told me about it and not ignoring me for days.”

“Lindy he was torn about what to do. Think about it, he gave up his own happiness for your safety and for the band. All these times we thought he was selfish for denying you, but he was not.”

Martha was right and I know I have been pretty much selfish too because I have been trying to avoid the fact that I had to talk to Harry. She continues, “I think it is about time to swallow your pride, lower down your ego, talk to Harry, patch things up so you can both be together again and you can have sex again and have his babies.”

“Martha!” I hollered shyly.

She laughs. “What? I am serious. Talk to Harry. Every time I think about the airport scene and how he was ready to kneel down and beg for you to stay? Still gives me chills!!”

I smiled at her.

“Talk to Harry, you hear me?” She sounded serious.

Later that evening, I was on my bed with Button next to me as I was contemplating on the things I should say to Harry to show him support with this trial he is facing against Modest.

Hi. How is it going? I heard on the news that you’re having this trial against your previous management. I just want to tell you best of luck and I hope you win it. You and the lads deserve to be happy and be free.

That was the first long sentence I have typed for Harry after months of not talking to him. It was nerve-wracking trying to get out the right words to say. He was not online and I think he is already asleep since it’s probably late in London but I did not send it to him.

The following day, I went to Starbucks to meet up with Martha who is on her. She wanted to look for some costumes we can wear for our upcoming Halloween Dance in school where everyone is super excited about. I ordered some frappe and a slice of cake while I was waiting for my best friend. Out in a spur of moment, I got a notification from Instagram which says that Harry Styles was live on Instagram. I grabbed my headphones on right away and placed it over my ears as I opened my Instagram app and clicked onto Harry’s live.

“Do your thing c’mon. Sing that song you just wrote.” A female voice speaks from the video.

“And why?”

“Because I know it is a good song.”

Harry laughs softly under his throat, “Gemma c’mon stop playing around.”

Gemma? Isn’t that his sister?

“What’s the title of the song you wrote?” Gemma asks from the live video.

“I’ll never love again.”

“And who did you write the song for?”

“It’s for Lindy.”

My heart feels this familiar warmth I usually feel that only Harry can do to me. I love how he said my name after months of not hearing from him and how it falls off from his mouth.

“Play the song as if she is watching you right now. Because I know she is.” Gemma tells Harry and I don’t think Harry knows that she was doing a live video of him.

Harry just sat there on his piano chair and looking all hesitant. Gemma cheers him again, “C’mon so you can see for yourself how she inspires you much with everything you do. Go.”

Harry finally decided to play the intro of this sad song over the piano and had a serious look in his eyes. His viewers were gaining and it was crazy how a lot of people were commenting on it.

“Wish I could, I could have said goodbye. I would have said what I wanted to, maybe even cry for you.” Harry’s voice sounded sad and he tried his best to look stern. “If I knew that it would be the last time, I would have broke my heart in two trying to save the better part for you.”

Harry closes his eyes as he continues to play the soulful song as if he was singing it to me, “Dont wanna feel another touch, don’t wanna start another fire. Don’t wanna know another kiss, no other name falling off my lips. Don’t wanna give my heart away to another stramger or let another day begin. Won’t even let the sunlight in, no I’ll never love again.”

I lowered my head and noticed that I was crying as I was watching him sing and how this song breaks my heart so much. He was speaking to me through this song and how I feel so emoitonal.

“When we first met, I never thought that I would fall. I never thought that I’d find myself, lying in your arms.” The words that I wrote in his notebook, he is singing it.
