Chapter 26 

Isadora stomped her feet in frustration. Left with no other choice, she took the subway home. 

The lines she had prepared went unused, and the design samples she brought were barely looked at before Jerry ran off. 

As it was noon, the employees had all gone for lunch. Isadora slumped at her desk, looking barely alive. 

Her phone vibrated. Without even looking at it, she accepted the call. “Hello?” 

“Isadora, how’s it going? Did you manage to secure the client?” 

She sat up straight. “Angelina.” 

“Weren’t you supposed to meet a client today?” 

Isadora hadn’t planned to tell her. But since Angelina knew that man, there might be an opportunity. 

‘Angelina, I need to ask you something 

“What is it?” 

“What’s your relationship with Jerry? The man from the coffee shop?” 

“Why bring that up? It’s in the past.” Angelina’s face turned red. “Isadora, didn’t we agree 

“He’s the client I met today. He left as soon as he saw me. He didn’t even give me a chance to speak.” 

Brookhaven wasn’t big, but it wasn’t small either. There was a small chance of running into the same person twice. Did Isadora have bad luck? 

“Angelina, can you help me call him? If you can find a way for me to land this deal, I should have an easier time with future projects. Right now, I’m having trouble finding clients because many aren’t willing to trust a new studio.” 

Isadora figured foreign clients wouldn’t be so picky. They would only care about ability. But since she had insulted Jerry before, he surely wouldn’t help her. 

Angelina was silent. 

The female side character had spent money to buy information about Jerry. Then, she relied on her sob story to present herself as a poor and fragile but independent and strong woman. 

That was how Jerry had been hooked. 

Once the lies were exposed, Jerry realized she was a pregnant married woman, leading to a three–way relationship. How could he trust her again? 

“Or maybe you could tell me about his hobbies and weaknesses.” 

“Weaknesses?” 

From her experience of flirting with men, she knew they liked women who seemed weak and pitiful. The more pitiful, the better. 

“I have an idea. You could arrange another meeting with him. Talk to him calmly and just share your story.” 

“Huh?” 

“The Whitmore family went bankrupt. You worked hard at your new job but faced exclusion from your colleagues. Then, you founded this studio to fulfill your dreams.” 

“W–Will that work?” 

“The more pitiful you make yourself sound, the better. Make it so that he feels that if he rejects you, you’ll be devastated. It’s best to cry in front of him, just like you did when you cried at home the other day.” 

“No, I have my pride.”
