Chapter 32 

“Mom, that’s not what I meant. I just signed a contract today and want to share the news with Angelina, but she’s asleep.” 

“Oh, so you want to share the news with Angelina but not us, huh?” 

“Exactly,” Gerald chimed in. 

At that moment, Angelina woke up and opened her eyes. She suspected the stew Chester made had knocked her out. 

“Angelina, you’re awake. What would you like to eat?” 

“Nothing. I’m not hungry.” 

“You need to eat.” 

“Angelina, I closed that deal!” Isadora quickly stepped forward and winked at Angelina. 

“Congratulations!” 

Truly, men couldn’t handle women acting vulnerable. They would cave when women acted at bit pitiful and shed some tears. 

“Angelina, have some stew…” 

“No thanks.” 

Lately, Angelina had been having stew, chowder, or soup every day. Being pregnant already made her need to pee often, forcing her to get up in the middle of the night. 

Now, just hearing those words made her scalp tingle. She couldn’t stomach any more of it. 

“At least have a little.” 

“Angelina, I bought some ice cream.” 

As soon as Isadora said that, Chester and Emily both turned their heads sharply to look at her. Realizing she had misspoken, Isadora belatedly realized that pregnant women should avoid eating cold food, 

However, Angelina felt energized. “Let me try it. Is it vanilla?” 

“No, 

it’s chocolate.” 

“Chocolate works too.” 

“Uh, haha…” Isadora laughed at Angelina awkwardly. 

Angelina finally noticed the room full of people staring at her. 

Gerald cleared his throat while Emily shot her a worried look “Angelina, your due date is just days away. You need to be cautious.” 

“Yes, Angelina. Pregnant women shouldn’t eat cold things. 

“Alright, I won’t eat it, then.” 

Angelina played along sensibly and went to bed early that night. She lay with her eyes closed, waiting until Chester had fallen asleep. She got up and checked the time, noting it was past midnight. Tiptoeing out of bed, she didn’t turn on the lights and crept toward the fridge stealthily. 

Suddenly, she bumped into someone in the dark 

Isadora quickly covered her mouth. “Shh…” 

“Isadora, why didn’t you turn on the lights?” 

“Mom told me not to eat the ice cream in front of you as she’s afraid you’d crave it.” 

Angelina had no words. 

“Let me have a scoop.” 

“No.” Isadora pointed at her. “You stayed up late just to sneak to the kitchen for this, didn’t you?” 

“I’m sick of your mom’s cooking–it’s so bland. It’s the middle of summer, but I’m not even allowed to eat fruits fresh out of the fridge. 

Isadora actually felt a bit sorry for her. “Fine, but you can’t tell anyone, and you can only have a scoop.” 

“Okay.” 

Isadora used her own scoop to feed Angelina.
