Chapter 49 

Emily did not allow anyone to touch the baby, saying they either didn’t know how to or their hands were dirty. 

Alexander quickly washed his hands, but Emily still didn’t let him hold the baby. 

Right then, even Isadora became unreasonable saying, “Alexander, stop trying to hold the baby. You should just go get married and have one of your own.” 

When Alexander turned to glance at Megan, she quickly avoided his gaze. 

Alexander had wanted to have a child for a long time. As soon as he graduated, he wanted to consummate their relationship and have a baby, but Megan refused. 

She insisted that they had to be married before having children, but she wouldn’t reject intimacy before marriage. 

As Alexander couldn’t resist, he had tried several times, bringing her to his bed and undressing her completely. 

But when it came to the final step, he couldn’t go through with it. He hadn’t married or given her any status yet, so he thought that would be too irresponsible of him. 

He wasn’t just playing around with her; he wanted them to grow old together. 

“Megan.” 

“Let’s talk about it in a few years. I still have my own things to take care of.” 

Rosalind shifted her gaze to Chester. The ward was lively, yet she seemed out of place. Chester’s eyes were fixed solely on Angelina, and his voice was gentle when speaking to her. 

That day, he wasn’t particularly presentable, even looking a little unkempt. Even so, he still appeared charming. 

Rosalind couldn’t help but wonder what exactly was so great about Angelina. Louis was crazy about her, and her husband doted on her endlessly. 

Angelina was vain and unscrupulous, so why was the world so nice to her? 

“Catherine, Catherine Whitmore.” 

“What’s her pet name?” Megan suddenly asked. 

Chester held Angelina’s hand. “Honey, you decide on the pet name.” 

Angelina was drowsy, her voice lethargic. After going through a life–and–death ordeal and barely eating, her voice was as soft as a mosquito’s buzz when she said, “She’s pretty cute. Let’s just call her Cutie. Cutie Whitmore.”

Everyone in the ward was speechless. 

“Sounds nice. That’s a nice–sounding pet name. We’ll call her Cutie from now on. Our Cutie is 

so adorable.” 

“You’re putting way too little thought into this,” Megan couldn’t help but comment. “A child’s name needs to be carefully considered.” 

“It’s fine. Putting less thought into things makes our lives easier.” 

After leaving the hospital, Megan sighed. “Did you notice something off about Chester today? Even the way he looked at his wife was so disgustingly affectionate that I couldn’t stand it.” 

“When you look at other men, do you not notice my gaze?” 

“Who cares about your gaze?” 

“Meg…”

Alexander abruptly grabbed her hand. When Ryan and Joshua saw this, they wished they could disappear on the spot. 

The two strode quickly ahead, baffling Rosalind in the process. “Why are you walking so fast 

all of a sudden?” 

“You should walk faster too. I need to talk to Meg alone,” said Alexander. 

Feeling awkward, Rosalind lowered her head and caught up with Ryan and Joshua. “Wait for 

me, guys…” 

After they were gone, Megan shook off Alexander’s hand. “Why are you holding so tightly…‘ 

“Catherine is really cute.”
