"Grace, I can somehow see where you are coming from, but can you see where we are coming from. Charlie you say has a good side but yet not even a week ago he attacked and destroyed a pack. I hate to tell you this but if we had- if I had the chance I would not hesitate to kill him."
"John, do not be a fended, but if you weren't Morgan's mate would you care about Charlie's life as much as you do?" She asked in a monotone voice.
"Yes, I would. I am an Alpha; the pack comes first."
"Then to answer your question; yes. Yes, I do see it the way you all see it; I saw it that way every day of my life. I sat next to Morgan every day in grammar school and every day I would think to myself, 'If only she knew that the person sitting next to her was the reason her mother is dead.'"
She stopped when we both heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Mark came down and gave me a nod.
"Guess you're my replacement?" I asked.
He gave me somewhat of a smile and nodded. I walked up the steps and went to find Morgan.
I went to go find her outside in the garden but I had no idea where she was. I used my wolf sense of hearing and heard her talking to her father.
"Morgan calm down, sweetheart," Ruben said.
"Calm down? I just found out that my mother was killed because he was angry that she tried to help his mate's parents. Yet, her parents got to live? He killed your wife, my mother! How can you tell me to calm down?" she yelled.
"Because I stopped looking for someone to blame, Morgan," he yelled back, "She is gone and no matter how much I wish she wasn't, I have to accept it. Yes, it is unfair that your mother had to surfer for a reason I do not know, but you have to stop searching for someone to blame." He told her.
Ruben's voice was sad and hurt, but it sounded strong. He has been out of the loop through this whole processes and I think he was happy about that. Even though he hasn't fully accepted Arianna's death, he doesn't want to people to investigate it. Something ran into me knocking me out of my thoughts. I looked down at the small figure of my mate who had her arms wrapped around me. I wrapped my arms around her and tucked her head under my chin. She cried into my shirt and held me tighter. Ruben came running into the garden we were in and looked me in the eyes.
"Take care of her, please," he mouthed before sighing and walking away.
I nodded to myself. I will take care of her and will make sure she stops hurting.
"Morgan you should talk to them."
She looked up at me with confused eyes, "Talk to whom?"
She let a single tear and I put both of my hand on her cheeks wiping her tears away.
"I want to stop seeing you hurting over this," I told her kissing her.
She kissed me back letting me in. She wrapped her arm around my neck and I wrapped my arms around her waist lifting her up off the ground. I unwrapped my arms from around her waist setting her on the ground softly. She began to pull her lips away from mine breaking our kiss. I tried to bring her lips back to mine but she leaned her head down against my chest.
"I am sorry for how I acted," she said into my shirt.
I sighed and tucked her head under my chin.
"I don't know how to deal with this, Morgan. You have to give me some slack. I love you. You know that but I need you to know that you will consider what I say."
She didn't look up at me or respond at first, but after she thought about it she nodded.
I kissed the top of her head and whispered, "Thank you."
