Apprehended By My Mate novel Chapter 33

"Clare, Clare." I hear Conner shout and the next thing I know is that I am in his arms as he carries me back into the lounge room and places me on the couch.

"Clare please breathe." My body feels stiff as the wall draw closer to me. "Please forgive me." I feel a sharp pinch in my arm that's makes me jump and draw in a deep breath. I start having a couching fit and I try to get air back into my body. My eyes water as the air stings, causing a burning sensation in my chest. I look up to see Conner sitting back on his toes in front of me. We both sit there watching each other as I try to get my breathing back under control.

"Conner?" An older women says placing a hand on his shoulder. I look up to see Conner smile at the women and they both look at me.

"Are you ok Clare?" Conner ask and I nod my head.

"Dear I think you should see the pack doctor to make sure you are fine." I shake my head at the lady knowing that I just need moment to get myself back under control.

"No I am fine."

"Dear I really think-" She goes to say but Conner interrupts her.

"Mum please just leave it ok. She only needs a minute." Conner says and I look back up to the women with wide eyes. This is Conner's mum. I look down at my feet ashamed that she had to see me like this.

"Ok, if you say so." She leaves the room and I watch out of the corner of my eye as Conner sighs.

"Clare I am so sorry, that I lost it. I just- I am sorry." He lowers his head and I can tell that he is ashamed of his actions.

He leans forward to kiss me again but I pull back and he takes the hint that I have reached my limit for today. When he removes his forehead from mine I expect to see disappointment but when I look into his blue eyes there is no trace of it there.

"Don't look sad Clare. It is ok. I know we have a long way to go but I promise you that one day we will be happy and everything can be put behind us." He is still holding onto my face and he lets go when my heart starts to escalate. I know that it will take a while but I hope that one day I can hold and kiss Conner without the fear of ever freaking out and that one day we can both be happy.

"Come, I want you to meet my parents." This cause me to freeze up and look at Conner with wide eyes. He wants me to meet his parents, oh no.

We are all sitting on the couch and I don't think this can get any worse. Conner's Mum and Dad came back into the room and no one has said a word since. Grace is sitting in my lap while I fidget not meeting anyone's eyes. The silence in the room is causing an uncomfortable feeling in me and I am sure everyone else in the room can feel it too.
