Chapter 6 – Highlight Chapter from Breaking All the Rules
Chapter 6 is a standout chapter in Breaking All the Rules by Nicole Dawn, where the pace intensifies and character dynamics evolve. Rich in drama and tension, this part of the story grips readers and pushes the Internet narrative into new territory.
Later that night when I showed up at Ian's place I got my chance to talk to Aaron alone since Ian was in the shower, normally I would've walked in and joined him, but I wanted to hear what Aaron had to say. I had to hear it. Even if he's seeing someone else I need to hear it, it might help me move on.
"Hey, Kami." Aaron says, he's sitting there on the sofa playing another video game and drinking a beer. "McAllister is in the shower."
I sit down next to him. "Hey, Aaron, I'll wait."
He looks a little surprised at that but doesn't say anything. "Is there something that you want to tell me?" I ask him.
"What?" He glances over at me before returning his attention back to the T.V.
"Ian said something.....if there is something you think I should know you need to just tell me."
"I don't know what you're talking about." He says. "What did he say?"
"Nothing just that....never mind, forget it."
He glances over at me again before returning his attention back to the T.V. but he's clearly uncomfortable with this conversation. "Maybe you need to talk to him about it."
"Is he...." I lick my dry lips. "Is he hooking up with someone else? I mean, it's totally
not a big deal if he is. It's not like we're dating or anything. I'm just curious."
I watched as he adjusted his weight on the sofa beneath him. "Not that I know of. You're the only one who hangs out with him." He shrugs.
"Hey, baby, how long have you been here?" Ian asks coming into the living room soaking wet with a white towel around his waist. I take the sight of him in and nearly drool. He's all naked and wet and I'm in here trying to hit his friend up for information. What is wrong with me?
"Hey." It comes out in a croak, partly because I feel guilty going behind his back for information and partly because he's standing there with nothing but a towel on. "Not long."
"Why didn't you join me?" He looks a little disappointed.
Aaron laughs. "You should've heard her this morning, Man, she shows up and Tim answers the door right?" Tim starts laughing too like it's the funniest thing. "She's like 'hey, babe, why haven't you been texting me? You were supposed to go shopping with me this morning. You have to help me pick out my dress'." He does his best impersonation of a woman's voice all high pitched and he blinks his eyes. "And Tim goes 'Ah, sorry, I forgot.' The whole time I'm thinking when did they start dating? He just started hooking up with her a couple of weeks ago right? The whole time I'm sitting there on the couch trying so hard not to laugh." He laughs that much harder and so does Tim. "Then she goes, 'babe, when we make plans you need to stick to them. I told you how important this is to me.' Then Tim says, 'yeah, sorry.' Then he turns and looks at me like he doesn't know what just happened. I just shrug my shoulders right. Then she leans in and kisses him before telling him she loves him." He breaks out into a fit of laughter. "He's literally banged this chick like what, Tim, maybe three times?"
Tim laughs at that. "I can't help I'm good."
"Dude, the chick is a psycho. You need to get a restraining order on that one. I think she's already planning your wedding." Aaron says. "She's probably already got your kids named too."
"You guys are mean." I tell them feeling sorry for this girl. Sure a couple weeks is a little soon to tell someone you love them but I'm sure Tim played a huge part in leading her on too.
Aaron laughs. "No, really, you should've seen her. It was hilarious. Tim just stood there with his mouth open when she says she loves him then he says, 'okay, well I gotta go do some stuff' and shuts the door in her face." They both broke out into a fit of laughter.
"I didn't know what to say to that." Tim says.
"That's awful! Poor girl." My heart broke for her. She's just one girl of many and I know she won't be the last he brushes off like that. They all only care about one thing and once they get it they move on to the next girl. I feel bad for those girls even though most of them know what they are getting into but don't care. Some of them think they will be the one to change the guys, get them to commit to them, others just want to be with a jock, some just want to have fun, still they don't deserve to be made fun of, and that's why I will never make the mistake of telling Ian how I feel. I'm not going to be one of those girls.
