Nathan was caught up with an urgent call from work and had to make a tough choice. After weighing his options, he decided to skip escorting Nathalie.

As Nathalie drove slowly towards the kindergarten, the short distance felt like a marathon since it was her first time behind the wheel. At an intersection, just as she made a right turn, a massive truck barreled towards her. Panic washed over her, and her face went as white as a sheet. In a frantic attempt to protect Nina, she swerved sharply but ended up crashing into another car. Blood immediately started trickling down her forehead.

Shaken, Nina fumbled for her phone and called her dad. "Daddy, we had a car accident! Mommy's hurt, waaaah!"

Nathalie's consciousness slipped away before she could hear any reply, leaving her in a haze. When she slowly came to, she found herself in a hospital room with Cameron and Nina by her side.

Surprised, Nathalie asked, "How did you get here?"

"Nina called me," Cameron replied. "So, I came."

Nathalie shot a resentful glance at Nina, realizing that the 'daddy' Nina had called was Cameron. Her heart ached for Nathan, who adored Nina, yet Nina's heart was with her biological father.

Turning cold towards Cameron, Nathalie said, "I'm fine now. You can leave."

Cameron noticed her annoyance and felt a complicated mix of emotions. Once upon a time, Nathalie would've jumped at the chance to spend more time with him.

"Is this how you treat the person who saved you?" Cameron asked, a bit irritated.

Nathalie shot back, "Compared to your cruelty towards someone who saved you, I'm being downright gracious."

Cameron was taken aback, his handsome face clouding over.

"Why hold onto old grudges? The whole Greta thing was ages ago, and we both paid for it. You're living a happy life now. Why dredge up the past?"

"Nathan."

"Why didn't you answer earlier? I was so worried about you! I'm just relieved you called me back," Nathan said, his voice filled with concern and love.

Tears welled up in Nathalie's eyes. "Nathan, I should've listened to you."

Sensing something was wrong, Nathan urgently asked, "Where are you?"

"I'm at the hospital," she replied.

Nathan's voice shot up, "The hospital? What happened? Why are you there?"
