Chapter 115
A group of students crowded forward as the counselor anxiously asked, “Doctor, how is she?”
The doctor removed his mask and shook his head, speaking with regret. “She’s out of immediate danger, but unfortunately, she was found too late. Excessive carbon monoxide inhalation has caused severe brain damage.”
“Oh my God.” Tessa wailed hysterically, “How could this happen to my baby girl.”
Valerie’s phone kept ringing as she listened to those words, a wave of discomfort twisting in her chest.
Valerie picked up, her voice barely above a whisper. “Hello?”
Aiden’s voice came through, low and urgent. “Where are you?”
His voice was low, so gentle she almost thought she was imagining it, yet it seemed to seep right into her heart.
Valerie’s cheek still throbbed with pain, and the wailing nearby only deepened her irritation. Yet the moment she heard his voice, that frustration miraculously melted away. “At the hospital,” she answered.
Aiden’s eyebrows twitched. “What happened?”
Valerie glanced at the chaos before her and said quietly into the phone, “Someone in our dorm attempted suicide.”,
“How dare you even speak.” Tessa shrieked hysterically as she lunged at Valerie. “It’s all your fault.”
Her voice was deafening, laced with a murderous rage, as if she wanted to drag Valerie down with her. Valerie instinctively recoiled, her brows knitting.
Fortunately, the two officers reacted swiftly and pulled her back.
The counselor, Elbert, and the other students quickly formed a protective barrier in front of Valerie.
Seeing that Valerie was being protected, Tessa immediately turned on Adrienne, screaming, “You murderer, may you rot in hell.”
“This is all your fault. If anything happens to my daughter, I’ll make you pay with your life. I swear I’ll make you suffer for this, you murderer.” Tessa’s voice was tinged with sobs, hysterical.
Adrienne’s face turned deathly pale at the accusations. In an instant, a flood of memories rushed through her mind–Jasmine’s arrogant sneer, Jasmine jabbing a finger in her face while shouting, Jasmine glaring at her with bloodshot eyes.
And then, her mind froze on Jasmine, her face bruised and swollen, lying on the floor, foaming at the mouth. Adrienne took two steps back, visibly
shaken.
Valerie’s frown deepened as she immediately pulled Adrienne into a protective embrace. She said, “Ma’am, I don’t believe your daughter would feel so guilty over anything to do with me that she’d try to take her own life.
“Besides, she’s an adult. She knows how to take responsibility for herself. I’ve never even said a harsh word to her. Calling us murderers like this? Don’t you think that’s a bit unfair?”
“Fair my ass.” Tessa screamed hysterically. “My daughter is in this state, and you dare talk to me about fairness now?”
Adrienne’s face was pale as she stammered, “I–It was Jasmine who started it first. Valerie was just clearing her name.”
“Don’t be afraid.” Valerie soothed Adrienne, glancing at her still–connected phone. Aiden’s icy, displeased voice came through. “Which hospital?”
Valerie let out a breath and said, “Don’t worry. I’ve got this.”
Aiden’s voice dropped several degrees colder as he repeated, “Which hospital?”

Chapter 115
Valerie sighed and finally said, “I’m at Reano Hospital, right outside the ER.”
Seeing Adrienne standing there in a daze, the counselor sighed sympathetically and said, “What a mess. Valerie, why don’t you take Adrienne back first?”
“Go back where? The dorm’s a complete mess. You expect them to sleep there?” Elbert snapped, clearly pissed. “What kind of bullshit is this? Valerie’s the one who got slandered, the one who’s been wronged all this time.
“Now the truth finally comes out, and Jasmine throws a suicide tantrum instead of just apologizing? What kind of trash family raises such trash? People like that are a menace to society.”
Tessa was still weeping and wailing when she heard this. She exploded, shouting, “What the fuck are you saying? Has that bitch completely messed with your head?”
Elbert had finally had enough and snapped, “Fuc$
then pulled this suicide stunt?
you and your bullshit. Your daughter’s a pathetic drama queen. She made up lies, got exposed, and
“The real victim hasn’t even lost her temper, but your fragile little girl just can’t handle it. Like mother, like daughter. A whole family of worthless trash. Get the hell out of here.”
Tessa was so furious her blood pressure spiked. “How dare
“Enough,” the officer barked. “This is a hospital. All of you, come with me to the station, now.”
As the officer’s voice faded, Valerie could have sworn she heard a familiar set of footsteps approaching. The footsteps were steady, yet noticeably more hurried than usual.
Adrienne was about to speak when she suddenly saw Valerie jerk her head up, her gaze snapping toward the far end of the hallway.
Fallowing Valerie’s gaze, a tall, imposing figure strode down the hallway in a perfectly tailored black trench coat, the black hem flaring with each step.
His calm yet commanding presence was impossible to ignore, and as he drew closer, an almost suffocating pressure seemed to fill the air.
His aura was so formidable that as he drew closer. Adrienne even felt her breath catch in her throat.
From a distance, Aiden’s eyes locked onto the angry red slap mark on Valer
pale cheek.
The entire side of her face had swollen up, the angry red mark glaringly obvious against her delicate features.
His deep–set eyes instantly darkened with a storm of fury. In an instant, the temperature around him plummeted, his aura turning downright terrifying.
Seeing him approach, Valerie felt her anxiety begin to melt away. She looked up at him, her heart finally finding a moment of peace.
Aiden’s face was livid as he stopped in front of her, his voice dangerously low. “Who hit you?”
Valerie managed a small smile. “It’s nothing, really. No big deal.”
Aiden’s gaze deepened with concern as he gently reached out, his hand brushing against her still–throbbing cheek. In a soft voice, he asked, “Does it still
