Chapter 114
What drove Jasmine to take her own life? When did she commit suicide? What exactly does this have to do with the events of the past two days they wondered.
These were the kinds of questions that made one stop and think.
Photos of Jasmine being loaded into an ambulance flooded the campus forum, with discussions showballing by the minute.
In a thread titled Reasons Behind Jasmine’s Suicide, the discussion went like this.
[Damn, this is wild. Of all times, she chooses to do it right after deleting her post and apologizing? What the hell does that mean?]
[Damn, this is way too extreme. Just a couple days ago, she dragged Valerie through the mud online and left her completely defenseless. Now she’s barely posted an apology, and suddenly she kills herself? What the actual fuck.]
[Guess what? I just walked past their dorm and the door was wide open, so I couldn’t resist peeking in. The police were already there securing the scene, and there were shopping bags scattered everywhere.
[Looks like Valerie and Adrienne had just come back from shopping. But here’s the kicker. Shattered La Mer bottles were all over the floor. That stuff costs a fortune.]
[La Mer? No way Jasmine could afford La Mer. I just remember her saying in a post that Valerie uses it. Wait? Did she smash Valerie’s skincare before killing herself?]
[Ugh, that’s just so vile.]
[Hey everyone, maybe we should stop talking about this. Jasmine is still in the hospital, fighting for her life. If something really happens to her because of these comments, won’t you feel guilty?]
At the hospital, Valerie and Adrienne were in the hospital, giving their statements to the police.
Valerie remained relatively composed, while Adrienne was close to Valerie, trembling slightly.
genuinely terrified. Her face stayed pale, showing no sign of color returning, as she huddled
Valerie truthfully told the officers what had happened, describing in detail the steps she took to save her.
Adrienne still hadn’t snapped out of it, clearly shaken to the core.
Adrienne was a writer with a wild imagination, but this is the first time she had ever witnessed something so horrifying in real life.
Had it not been for Valerie’s quick thinking, Jasmine wouldn’t have survived. Adrienne could never have saved her alone.
“Jasmine? Where’s my daughter? My baby?” Tessa burst into the room, her eyes red and swollen from crying.
As she rushed forward, her steps grew unsteady, nearly causing her to collapse. Valerie reacted instantly, darting forward to steady her with a firm grip. “Watch your step,” she warned.
The middle–aged woman scrambled up, still sobbing. But when her eyes focused on Valerie, she froze mid–motion. “It’s you-”
Suddenly, her face twisted with rage. Without warning, she swung her arm and slapped Valerie hard across the face. The slap landed with a resounding
sound.
Valerie was blindsided. Her eyes widened slightly, caught completely off guard by this sudden turn of events.
The other students who had come along gasped in shock. Startled, Adrienne rushed forward and shouted, “What the hell are you doing?”

Chapter 114
The middle–aged woman’s face contorted with rage. She raised her head and swung her arm again, ready to deliver another slap
But Valerie was ready this time. She raised her hand to block the blow, then turned to her with an icy, piercing glare that made the middle–aged woman pause, a sudden chill running down her spine.
‘W–What’s going on? Why does she, just a college girl, have such a terrifying look in her eyes?‘ she wondered.
The officer quickly stepped in, pulled her back, and snapped, “What do you think you’re doing? We’re right here.”
The middle–aged woman struggled in hysterical sobs, screaming, “It’s her. She drove my daughter to suicide. My God, what kind of police are you? The murderer is right here. Are you blind? Arrest her now.”
Elbert rushed over in a hurry and shouted angrily, “Are you insane? If Valerie hadn’t reacted quickly and saved your daughter, she’d be dead by now. And now you’re hitting her. Where’s your sense of justice?”
“Bullshit.” Jasmine’s mother, Tessa Duncan, yelled in rage. “This shameless bitch is always out there throwing herself at every man she sees. It’s bad enough that she goes after men, but she even tried to seduce my daughter’s boyfriend.
“That’s why he wanted to break up with my baby girl. If it weren’t for her, why would my daughter ever want to kill herself?”
Elbert grew even angrier. “Look. These are all fabricated lies your daughter made up, complete nonsense. Her lies were exposed on the spot, and now the whole school knows she’s been lying. Hasn’t she told you?”
Tessa, taken aback by Elbert’s furious expression, stammered in disbelief, “That’s impossible. Don’t you dare lie to me. Jasmine is the sweetest, most obedient girl. She’s an absolute angel at home. How could she possibly be the way you say?”
Tessa, wiping away her tears, wailed, “My daughter is in there fighting for her life, and you still have the nerve to spread these vile lies.
“How could someone be so cruel? My God, how much more damage do you want to do to my girl before you’ll finally leave her alone?”
Tessa wailed hysterically, her sobs echoing through the hospital corridor.
Elbert was absolutely livid and about to fire back when Valerie quickly stopped her.
The counselor quickly stepped between them and said, “Mrs. Duncan, I understand you’re distressed with your daughter in there. That’s completely
