Everyone jumped in surprise, turning toward the door. A group of people, armed and with guns drawn, pointed them at the group in the room and shouted, “Don’t move! Hands up!”

Juliette was so startled that her phone fell from her hands.

Rowan and the others went pale, but they’d seen their fair share of chaos. Someone stepped forward and asked, “Officers, what’s going on here?”

“We received a report that you’ve been harassing women and holding a Juliette against her will. Is that true?” the lead officer asked, his tone sharp.

Rowan’s face instantly darkened as he turned to look at Juliette.

The others around them quickly pieced things together, panic creeping in. “Juliette, did we harass you?”

“There are so many beautiful women here. Why would we harass you?”

“Officers, this is all just a misunderstanding!”

Juliette was frozen in shock, and before she could react, someone yanked her out of the group. “Tell them–did we do anything to you?”

Juliette quickly responded, “No… no, of course not!”

The officer took out his phone and played a recording.

[“What’s going on? Are you being held at the bar? Those people aren’t trying to take advantage of you, are they?“]

[“Valerie, there are so many men here. I think I’m drunk. Please come get me… I’m so scared, please hurry!“]

[“Okay, don’t worry. I’ll be there right away.“]

[“You must come alone. In a place like this… If this gets out, it’ll be bad for both of us, especially for you…“]

[“Don’t worry about me. I’ll be there soon. What’s the address?“]

Then the address and room number were shown clearly. It was the exact place they were in.

Rowan muttered a curse under his breath, “What the hell is this?”

Juliette hurriedly tried to explain, “Officers, it’s a misunderstanding! I was just joking around with my friend. We were just messing with each other…”

“Messing around?” The lead officer sneered. “Your friend was scared out of her mind when she called us. And how you’re telling me it was all just a joke?”

“Juliette!” A frantic voice came from the door.

Valerie, fully dressed and even sporting bright, eye–catching makeup, rushed in and threw her arms around Juliette. She choked up and said, “Are you okay? You scared me half to death! I thought something had happened to you! You’re a girl, why would you come to a place like this, surrounded by all these men? People are going to think you’re… well, you know, not a decent girl. Thank goodness you’re okay!”

Juliette was at a loss for words, her face shifting from red to pale. She stammered, “Valerie, this is all a misunderstanding…”

Valerie wiped away nonexistent tears, putting on a serious expression as she said, “I know, they must have forced you to say that, right? Don’t worry, I’m here now. The officers will make sure everything’s fair!”

Rowan, upon seeing Valerie, couldn’t help but feel his pulse quicken. He thought, This woman… she’s absolutely stunning! That waist, it’s incredible!

The others in the room also couldn’t take their eyes off Valerie. It was impossible not to feel a pang of envy.

Chapter 23

Rowan stepped forward, offering the lead officer a cigarette with a smile. “It’s all just a misunderstanding. We were playing a game–Truth or Dare Wre asked Juliette to call a good friend to test their friendship. We never imagined this lady would be so sensitive and unable to take a joke. Honestly…

Valerie sneered. “This guy doesn’t even blink when he lies. Does the friendship between me and Juliette really need testing? She’d give her life for med there’s no way she’d joke like this. You must have forced her into it!”

With those words, Valerie hit the mark, and Juliette’s face instantly turned bright red.

Sure enough, someone in the crowd muttered, “Is she really that clueless, or is she just playing dumb? Juliette asked her to come here alone…

The comment wasn’t loud, but it was clear enough.

The lead officer’s face darkened. He gave Juliette a look of contempt and said, “You’re young, but you’re already trying to drag others down with you? Your friend was practically in tears when she got to the station, worried sick about you. And you sent her into a room full of men–what exactly were you thinking?”

Valerie seemed to finally piece everything together. Her face drained of color, and she stared at Juliette in disbelief. “Juliette… no, this can’t be true…

Juliette’s heart pounded in panic. She was about to speak when she saw a young officer rushing up to the lead officer, whispering something in his ear.

The lead officer’s expression grew even darker, and he barked, “Search them!”

The group in the room immediately went into a panic, shouting, “What’s going on? Even if you’re police, you can’t just search us like this!”

The lead officer shot back, “We’ve received a tip–off that you’re hiding contraband! Everyone, up against the wall!”

Rowan quickly forced a smile, stepping forward to try and block the officers. “Officers, this is all just a misunderstanding. We were just having a little fun with this lady. How did we go from playing a joke to being accused of having contraband?”

“This wasn’t her tip–off. It came from another concerned citizen who saw you hiding something,” the officer said coldly. “If you’ve got nothing to hide, what’s the problem with a search? Get over there and stand against the wall!”

A young man in the crowd shouted, “We’ve already said, there’s nothing! This is pure extortion!”

Before he could finish, there was a loud cry, and he was forcefully slammed to the ground.

The lead officer sneered, “Interfering with an investigation will only make things worse for you. Search them!”

Everyone in the room, except for Valerie, was forcibly pressed against the wall and made to stand obediently.

Rowan, his face as pale as a sheet, was pinned against the wall.

He was the one who’d organized this whole gathering. If anything went wrong, he was the first to take the fall.

They were just out having fun, and bringing in a few unusual items for excitement wasn’t anything new.

Nothing had ever gone wrong before. So he wondered, Why is it this time, with Juliette involved, we are being raided?‘

The search results came quickly.

Several people were found to have small bags of powder on them, and
