Chapter 90

Kelly asked curiously, “Alden, you didn’t make Valerie angry, did you?”

Alden naturally took the water, glanced at her without speaking, and went into the bathroom.

Valerie slipped into the bathroom, splashing cold water on her face. When she stepped out, the flush in her cheeks had faded, and she felt a bit more five herself again.

Kelly, excited, went to buy a few ice creams, bringing one back for Valerie, saying, “Strawberry flavor.”

Valerie grabbed the treat, taking a slow lick–sweet, chilly, and oh–so–smooth. It hit all the right spots.

But when she turned her head, she caught Aiden seemingly looking at her.

Her face heated up, and Valerie instinctively avoided his gaze.

But then, she felt like this made her look too guilty, so she boldly looked back and offered the ice cream, asking, “Want some?”

Aiden eyed the ice cream in Valerie’s hand, a little smirk tugging at his lips. He leaned in, stealing a quick bite. Soft, creamy, and just the right kind of sweet.

Kelly, watching them, turned to Angelo with a smile, saying, “Aiden never eats ice cream.”

Valerie’s face heated up even more, and she awkwardly said, “Come on, let’s try something else.”

“Let’s go on the roller coaster then,” Kelly said, beaming. She looked at Aiden and added, “Aiden, you’ve never tried something this thrilling, right?”

Aiden had indeed never tried it. He always thought that riding such things was a waste of time.

But seeing Kelly so excited, he instinctively turned to look at Valerie and noticed that she also seemed a bit eager to try. He slowly responded, “I guess we can give it a try.”

Kelly was overjoyed and shouted, “Full assault!”

After going through a series of rides, the novelty and excitement had, worn off, and Valerie started feeling a bit hungry.

Kelly was tired too, so they found a restaurant in the amusement park to have a meal.

Kelly ordered the food, knowing Aiden’s preferences well, but during the ordering process, she had a small disagreement with Angelo.

Angelo, noticing that she was ordering a lot, reminded her, “Maybe you should order less. We won’t be able to finish all that food.”

Kelly, unconcerned, replied, “It’s fine. I want to try everything, and Aiden is really picky about food. More choices will make it easier for him to eat, right?”

“But you’re ordering way too much. There are only four of us. It’ll be a waste if we don’t finish it,” Angelo said.

Kelly said, “It’s okay. It’s not expensive. I’ll pay.”

Angelo frowned, wanting to say that it wasn’t about the money. He just didn’t want to waste food.

But seeing Kelly so determined, Angelo decided to keep quiet.

Valerie, observing this, casually asked, “Where did you two meet?”

Angelo remained silent.

Kelly, laughing, said, “We met while shopping.”

Kelly blushed, fidgeting with her coffee cup. “So, I was out shopping one day, totally clueless that my period had started. Ugh, talk about badtin in ended up with a stain on my skirt. Mortifying, right?

“But then he swooped in, all chill, and handed me his jacket to cover it up. Saved me from dying of embarrassment. I was like, ‘Okay, I gotta get your number.’ Dropped off his jacket later, and, well… things just kinda took off from there.”

Valerie gave a small nod, then flashed a warm smile. “I figured Renata set you guys up. Kinda weird that didn’t add up, huh?”

At the mention of Renata’s name, Angelo’s expression shifted, a flicker of something crossing his face.

Kelly, puzzled, asked, “What does Renata have

with this?”

Valerie leaned back with a grin. “So, when I first spotted Angelo, he seemed kinda familiar, you know? Took me a sec, but then it hit me–I’m pretty sure saw him hanging out with Renata before. Like, when you were ordering, it just clicked.”

Angelo’s face changed again, and he asked, “When was that?”

Kelly’s expression shifted slightly, and she said, “Really? You know Renata?”

Angelo thought, ‘I don’t have much contact with Renata. How did she see us together?

Valerie noticed that Angelo seemed a bit tense, and her heart sank.

“In her previous life, Renata and Kelly had a huge falling out. Valerie originally thought it was because they were both after the same man, but later discovered that Angelo had initially liked Renata.

The only reason he started hanging around Kelly was because of one thing Renata had said.”

She was just casually probing now, but based on Angelo’s reaction, it seemed that the unfortunate events she had heard about in her previous life were almost confirmed.

“I don’t remember exactly when I saw it. It was just a quick glance, not much of an impression,” Valerie said as she picked up her coffee cup. “So you know Renata?”

Kelly frowned and looked over.

Angelo seemed a little uneasy as he said, “I know her, but we’re not close.”

“You look really nervous.” Aiden’s voice was cool and calm, his eyes fixed on Angelo, but with an unmistakable certainty in his tone.

Aiden’s presence was already intimidating enough, and now his commanding authority made Angelo break into a cold sweat.

He let out a shaky laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. “Okay, yeah, I’m kinda freaking out here. Kelly and Renata? They’re like oil and water–always at each other’s throats. I’m not tight with her or anything, so I was worried you’d get the wrong idea.”
