Had William forgotten that it was because of him that she ended up in this miserable, half-dead state.

Margaret couldn't help but laugh bitterly to herself, completely ignoring William's words.

Since she was going to die anyway, she wouldn't let him off easily.

Margaret deliberately spoke in a cold tone, "William, you're not mistaken. The truth is, I despised you for being a cripple, and that's why I left you and ran off with Benjamin. I haven't loved you for a long time."

"Where's Benjamin? Go away. I only want to see Benjamin now. I never want to see you again."

Margaret waved her hand in the air and laughed bitterly to herself, "Even though I'm blind now, just breathing the same air as you in this room disgusts me. We're done, William. Please stay away from me from now on."

William stared at Margaret's hollow eyes, his heart aching, as though he couldn't breathe.

He desperately grasped Margaret's struggling hand, his swollen eyes clouded with pain, and spoke in a low, heartbroken tone, "Margaret, I can promise you everything else."

"Except for these two things: one, for me to leave, and two, for you to see Benjamin."

Margaret gritted her teeth and spat out, "William, how dare you!"

"Because I'm your guardian," William replied, his jaw clenched, his resolve solidifying. "You said it yourself, I brought you away from your father, so you're mine."

"I know you hate me now, and you're trying to provoke me on purpose. But I won’t hold it against you. I have all the time in the world to win you back and make you willingly accept me again."

William noticed the despair and resignation on Margaret's face, and he guessed what she was thinking. His tone softened, "Margaret, you won't die. I’ve hired the world's top cancer specialists for you. They’ll develop a new drug for you. We have time."

Margaret stiffened. She wouldn’t die?

But to live in this half-life, forced to stay by William's side, what meaning did her life even have?

Margaret sneered, "William, I'd rather die—"

Before she could finish her sentence, her lips were firmly pressed shut.

"Mm, mm, mm!"

Realizing it was William kissing her, Margaret instantly felt repulsed, her skin crawling with disgust.
