The weather gradually grew warmer.
The doctor mentioned that Margaret's body was lacking in calcium and recommended that she spend more time in the sun.
On sunny days, William would push Margaret downstairs to get some sunlight.
"Margaret, I need to take a call," William whispered gently in her ear before instructing the nurse to take good care of her and walking away with the phone.
After losing her sight, Margaret's hearing had become sharper, and she vaguely heard William's mother on the other end of the call, with the two seeming to argue.
Margaret sneered, not caring in the slightest.
After a while in the sun, Margaret began to feel hot and asked the nurse to push her back to the room.
"Hey! Be careful, I'm pregnant!"
The nurse pushed the wheelchair and accidentally touched the woman who was looking at the report card opposite.
Margaret’s ears twitched, her fist instinctively tightening. She would never forget that voice, not even in death. “Amelia?”
Amelia’s gaze lifted from the report, and upon seeing Margaret in the wheelchair, her face instantly filled with terror and disbelief. “Margaret, aren’t you supposed to be dead from late-stage bone cancer? How are you still alive?”
“Of course, it’s you,” Margaret sneered inwardly.
Before she could say anything, William’s voice came from behind, filled with concern. “Margaret, are you alright?”
“Amelia, what are you doing here at the hospital?” he demanded.
“William, your mother asked me to come in for a checkup,” Amelia stammered, fear evident in her tone.
It was clear that Amelia was now terrified of William.
William’s focus remained entirely on Margaret as he anxiously explained, “Margaret, please don’t misunderstand. I didn’t mean to deceive you… Amelia is pregnant, and my mother threatened to kill me if I harmed the child. That’s why I didn’t lock her up in the basement. Once she has the baby, I’ll make sure you get justice, okay?”
After trying to calm Margaret, William shot a hateful glare at Amelia. “You slut, get out!”
