"What is a TV?"
Levin starred at me as if had spoken a foreign language and I could feel my cheeks heating.
"Are you serious?"
He sounded angry and I ducked my head a bit not wanting to anger him more.
"I'm sorry, it's just...I can't believe how fucked up your pack is."
I watched my mate running his long fingers through his hair and picked instantly up on his frustration.
I did not know what to say and that made me feel helpless.
Suddenly Levin's hand was back on my thigh and I relaxed back into the car seat.
"When we're home, I'm going to show you all the technological stuff."
Levin smiled at me and I felt myself smile along.
After a few hours we finally arrived at the Crescent Moon pack and I could feel myself getting nervous.
What if his parents did not like me?
"My parents are already expecting us in the pack house.", Levin told me and I swallowed around the lump in my throat.
Great - I was confronting my biggest fear head on.
The Crescent Moon pack's territory largely consisted of trees and more trees and I felt myself becoming excited to let my wolf roam freely in those.
Everything seemed so calm here.
Suddenly we took a left turn and I could see a large house up the hill.
The house was massive, but all the people in front of it were the source for my growing unease.
I started to take deep breaths, because I could almost taste the feeling of a panic attack arising.
Levin was grinning from ear to ear as he saw the people gathered outside and I just realized that he had not been home for a year himself.
He parked the car in front of the house and stepped out of the car only to be instantly surrounded by pack members.
I could see the excitement on his face and had to smile at his embarassment when a tall woman made her way to the car and cried "My baby's finally home."
She then proceeded to hug Levin.
Levin, however, did not really respond to the hug and seemed stiff in his friend's embrace.
"Who's this beauty Levin?", his mother's sweet voice asked and I instantly locked eyes with her again.
My cheeks started to heat once more, because never had anyone called me that.
Levin freed himself from the hug of his friend and looked confused at him before he turned towards me.
He shook his head as if wanting to forget something, came closer to me and with a sweet smile he said "This is my mate."
After my first day here in the Crescent Moon pack I could be certain of two facts.
First of all, this pack was nothing like my old pack, welcoming me with open arms and asking questions about me non-stop. Of course, they were curious because I was their future Luna, but I just knew that they would act the same with anyone else.
At first I was a bit shy and guarded, because I had never experienced such an interest in me. However, Levin's mother Levke made sure I felt right at home. She had been over the moon when she had heard I was Levin's mate and had instantly hugged me.
Her embrace had felt so much like a mother's that tears had started to gather in my eyes. The meaning of her name, love, could be felt in her every action.
My wolf had howled brokenly in my mind, because we had never experienced such warmth and compassion from anyone except Silas. Was this how a real family felt like?
I had felt overwhelmed and Levin had have to notice, because he had ushered me inside, where I could finally take a deep breath.
