His embrace had tightened around me and I had tried not to wince, because of my still present injury, but Silas had known.
He had leaned his forehead against mine and had whispered "This is exactly the reason why you need to leave, Ray."
Silas had then produced a small bottle out of his pocket and had made me lay down on my bed.
Carefully he had pulled my shirt to my neck and unwrapped the bandages.
My brother had hissed and a little howl full of sorrow had left his mouth.
As I had wanted to turn around to console him, Silas had gently pressed me back in to the mattress and had started to apply something on my gashes.
It had stung a bit at first, but the cool feeling that had followed afterwards had made me relaxed again. My gashes were now completely healed, but I would forever carry the scars of them.
"I can't tell you exactly what I'm going to do, but I know you'll worry, so I've given myself a deadline. When I'm not with you when a month is over, come and get me."
My brother's voice had been meant to be soothing, but a cold shiver ran down my back, when I had dared to think about anything that his plan entailed.
"What are you going to do Silas?", my shaky voice asked him.
He then had pulled my shirt back in place and I had instantly turned around and had crawled into his lap, like small pup.
My brother had held me as if I was his child and replied in a hard voice "Making sure that nothing like this ever happens again!"
This had been of course a reference to my wounds and as pleased as I was with his idea, because nobody should ever endure this pain, I was also worried about my brother's well being.
"Promise me at least to keep in contact with me.", I had begged him and Silas had agreed.
"Levin told me that he knows.", I had then brokenly admitted and the confession had me crying once more, because I was still not sure if Levin was honest, when telling me he was okay with it.
"He knows that you're one of the strongest people I know, because you're still alive and fighting even though our parents and pack are the worst.", Silas had told me in a serious voice.
He had then gently grabbed my chin in order to look at him and had said "You're so strong, Ray, you're still you, the sweetest and most optimistic woman I know, even though they tried to get rid of all that is you."
"My pack's going to love you."
My look had to have spoken volumes of doubt and worry because Levin explained, "In my pack everybody helps each other and it's not a sign of weakness, but of compassion and strong character. We have training sessions, but not as often as in your old pack, so we have more free time."
I smiled as Levin said "old pack" and it made me feel already a part of the Crescent Moon pack. From Levin's stories they sounded wonderful, much more like me.
"What do you like to do in your free time?", I asked Levin curiously, because I never really had "free" time. When I was not training or busy with my troubles, I took a bath and that was rarely.
"I love to hang out with my friends, watch TV and...what?"
He noticed my confused look and an amused smile played on his lips.
"I'm not a couch potatoe, I also do lots of stuff outside, but in front of the TV I can relax as well.", Levin tried to defend his choice of hobby.
But that was not why I was confused.
