"Anytime.", I replied happily and saw her stiffen in her seat.
"Is everything okay?", I wanted to know uncertainly. Had I said something wrong?
Just at this moment Levin entered the kitchen and I felt my heart accelerating just by the sight of him. However, I did not know if my heart was beating this fast because Levin was looking really handsome in a dark blue v shirt and jeans or because I knew I had to talk to him and this conversation would determine my future.
When his hazel eyes fell on me they brightened and I felt my cheeks flush. How could he have this effect on me when we were not mates?
Levin walked towards me and with a gentle voice he told me, "Good morning Sophie, I hope you slept well."
I could only nod my head. Had I only imagined yesterday's conversation between Levin and Oliver? Why was I this flustered?
"That's good. I wanted to ask, if you want to spend the day with me.", Levin then continued to speak and I could feel how nervous he was.
I was glad that I was not in this alone.
"I'd love to.", I responded and saw his eyes brighten yet again.
Not wanting to be rude to Milena I shot her a questioning look to which she just grinned.
"Oh please, I can't watch you two love birds any longer."
I smiled at her teasing tone and nodded my head.
"Thanks for everything.", I told her gently and noticed her eyes soften.
Levin then took me by my hand and led me outside. I was too distracted by the electric tingles spreading though my body that I had no idea how we suddenly were in the middle of a beautiful garden.
I let my gaze roam over all the already blooming flowers and a feeling of contenment settled deep inside me.
"I knew this place would make you happy.", Levin whispered into my ear and kissed my forehead.
I closed my eyes relishing this moment. All the could be's.
I felt so loved, so wanted in this moment that I had difficulties remembering what I had wanted to talk to Levin about. Everything just felt so right.
Suddenly a howl pierced through the calm Levin had created and I shivered. My eyes shot open and my heart beat accelerated. Something was wrong.
"Did you hear that?", I wanted to know and stepped away from Levin.
Confused he answered, "What?"
Had I just imagined the howl? It had sounded so broken and devastated.
"Is everything okay, Sophia?", Levin asked, concern lacing his voice.
Levin brushed his hair back and I was able to pick up his distress once again.
I took a deep breath, not wanting to know, but needing to.
"Why does he have this effect on you then, Levin?"
Shocked Levin looked into my eyes and shouted, "I don't fucking know."
I shrank back in fear and covered my face. Would he hit me now?
"Sophia, I'm sorry, I didn't mean....I", Levin stammered.
I could feel how sorry he was, so I let my arms fall to my side again. My wolf whimpered in my mind, because she knew I was not finished.
"Tell me one thing Levin, do you feel the tingles with him as well?", I gently asked him and saw Levin wince.
That was the answer I had needed and deep inside me something broke.
"But that doesn't mean anything, I feel the tingles with you too. I'm going to reject him Sophia, I'm going to be your mate", Levin said and pulled me close to him.
"I want you Sophie! It has to be you...", Levin whispered close to my ear, but I had heard enough to pick up the desperation in his voice. While Levin was clinging to me, I stood frozen ins his embrace.
