What had happened? Why was I lieing on a bed again?
"I just wanted to help her.", Oliver responded and I could make out the sincerity in it.
And suddenly everything came back.
Nathan.
His room.
His smell.
My mate.
"You are stupid!", Melinas furious voice whispered back and I could practically feel the guilt seeping from Oliver.
No, they were wrong. I had to help Oliver.
"Stop!", I demanded in a whisper and finally managed to open my eyes.
All three pair of their eyes were locked on me in surprise. If I was not so weak I would certainly blush, but I could still feel the remain of the panic attack in my body.
"Oliver was right.", I told them and instantly Melina rushed to my side. Something on my face must had worried her, because she gently stroke my cheek and when I noticed the liquid on her fingers I realized I was crying.
"So it's true.", Oliver whispered and Levin instantly demanded, "Would you shut up!"
Melina never tried to talk to me, probably knowing that I had to process everything myself first. She only left for roughly an hour, asking me repeatedly if I was okay with that, and I used this hour to check my phone.
Silas had not replied to my last message in which I had told him that I had arrived safely in the Crescent Moon pack, but I had not expected him to. I knew he would only reach out if he was in trouble, so no news were good news. However, I still worried about him even though I knew that Silas was more than capable to stand his own.
Briefly I called Dr. Clairence to let her know I was now with friends of my brother and that I was safe here. I could clearly hear the relief in her voice and felt guilty for worrying her so much. Of course, I could not tell her about all the mate news and I was somehow glad, because I still felt raw from realizing that Nathan was my mate.
Just as my thoughts started to take their usual dark way, Melina came back. She made me eat dinner and then showed me what a TV was. We watched a movie and to say I was confused by all this new technology was an understatement. Melina patiently told me everything I wanted to know and I was glad that I finally had someone to turn to. She also stayed the night which I was the most thankful for.
During the next two weeks Melina's and my friendship grew even more. In a sense she had replaced Silas' role here in the Crescent Moon pack and when I had told her that she was like a sister to me, Melina had almost cried. At first I thought I had said something wrong, but her answering tight hug and her reply, that she also saw me as a sister had me relieved and crying too.
I also spent a lot of time with Levin and even Oliver. At first I had felt a bit uncomfortable in both their presence, but I had not need to worry as Levin was really easy going and went out of his way to make me comfortable. Oliver warmed up to me too, especially when he invited me to a training session in the Crescent Moon pack. He was in charge of the training for the teenagers and because he knew that the Mercy pack was known for their fighting skills he wanted me to check out their performances. At first I thought Oliver was making fun of me when he told me about his suggestion, but I soon realized he meant business and I was thrilled to help him out. Back in the Mercy pack, nobody thought I was a good fighter even though I was almost always top of my class and nearly never lost.
