An agonizing pain spread though me as soon as the whip stroke my bare back, but I knew I could not make a sound as more lashes would follow.

Fuck! This burnt more than I could remember.

My fingernails dug deeper into my palm and I was sure that I was drawing blood. However, it helped to endure the pain on my back.

"A mercy pack member doesn't help anyone", he spit out as another lash followed.

I supressed a cry as I could almost taste the blood in my mouth.

Had it always burnt this bad? I could not remember.

Tears ran down my cheeks, but I knew I could not let a sound escape my mouth.

"Helping is a sign of weakness", my father whispered menacingly as the whip stroke my back a third time.

My knees almost gave out, but I willed myself to stay upright.

I could not let my father see how much his punishment hurt.

Ironically the whip never left any scars, because werewolves healed quickly. However, the scars on my heart and the painful memories could never be erased.

Barely holding myself up, I heard him say "That's enough for today, but when I hear or see you helping someone again, I won't be so kind. Do you understand, Sophia?"

I nodded my head and whisperered "Yes, Alpha."

Mechanically I pulled my tshirt over my head and tried not to hiss when the fabric touched my injuries.

I did not know why, but the whip lashes from this time hurt more than any other I could remember. However, that was probably my mind playing tricks on me.

I briefly wondered why I did not get more lashes, because the other times I had got up to ten lashes, but I did not question it.

"You're dismissed."

"Thank you, Alpha."

Before exiting the office, I risked a glance at my father and saw him standing at the window again.

He looked satisfied as if his punishment would finally have an effect on my weak personality.

My father never appeared content after whipping me, there was just more disappointment radiating off of him, because he expected me to be taugher when taking the punishment.

However, I could understand her. Wolves were used to packs and being with other wolves, but in the Mercy pack nobody accepted us, so we had no form of social interaction with anyone other than my family.

Since I had started to talk with Dr. Clairence I could feel my wolf being closer to me yet again. However, I knew that the pain of the gashes on my pack would make my wolf feel bad all over again and I did not want her to leave me once more. She was all I had now.

So I had clenched my teeth and had endured the pain alone.

It had almost been a month and my injury still had not healed completely. It did not help that I had training sessions almost every day and was expected to participate every time.

I breathed through the pain, trying to tell myself that it had been a lot worse a month ago.

Once I had finished changing the dressing I put on a light sweater and headed towards the window, where the rays of sunshine shone on the wooden floor.

I opened the window and a gentle breeze blew through my long hair. Summer was almost here, I could smell it.

I closed my eyes and absorbed the heat of the sun.

A small smile formed on my lips and for the first time since my punishment I felt okay.

For the first week after my punishment my parents had not bothered with me. I had been alone in my room for a week trying to move as little as possible as every motion had hurt like hell. At night I had somehow managed to get downstairs and had cooked myself a meal. I had never seen anybody.
