Instantly his mood became a bit lighter as did his eyes and a look of pure anguish appeared in them.

"I'm so sorry Ray!", my big brother whispered brokenly.

My eyes widened then, because I was sure that my brother knew about my injury. Had he smelt the silver? I had almost been certain that the silver scent had left and that only I was able to smell it. Apparently I was wrong.

I stared uncertainly in Silas' eyes having no idea what to tell him.

"Silas", I heard my mother's excited voice from behind me and I breathed a sight of relief at her interruption.

Silas' eyes did not leave mine until I gave him a slight nod, telling him I was okay.

He embraced me once more and now I was sure that my brother knew about my injuries, because his arms did not tighten as strongly around my lower back as before.

Silas kissed my hair lightly before he let me go and stepped around me, so that I was shielded from my mother.

Mother rushed forward wanting to hug Silas, but before she was anywhere near him she suddenly stopped. Her eyes widened in...fear? I could not be sure, I had never seen this kind of emotion in her eyes before.

She stood rooted to her spot and a voice void of any warmth said "Hello mother."

I gasped only now realizing that Silas' had spoken with our mother, but I had never heard him using this tone with her.

Silas had never really been a hugger, except with me, but he had always had a good relationship with our mother. At least I had thought so.

It was not only a shock to mother but also to me, why Silas was this hostile towards her. Had Silas realized that our mother had done nothing to prevent father from punishing me?

Speaking of the devil, our father had arrived in the entry way of our house and starred daggers at Silas.

I felt a cold shiver running down my back, just looking at my father. Almost automaticly my heart quickened its speed and my breathing became labored.

"Silas", our father greeted my brother.

"Alpha", Silas replied respectfully, but did not bow his head. I winced quietly hoping that the consequences that would follow would not be serious.

My father growled at Silas' behaviour, but let it slide.

My eyes widened. What was happening?

My father never let any disobedience slide.

"Who's that in the car behind you?", mother asked curiously.

She had apparently gathered herself again and stood now proudly beside our father.

Silas' friend was incredible handsome with short dark brown hair and beautiful hazelnut coloured eyes. I could feel myself getting lost as our eyes connected.

Without thinking twice about the consequences I voiced my wolfs thoughts out loud.

"Mate"

Nobody seemed to be more suprised by my words than my mate and I briefly wondered if my wolf's intuition was wrong.

I thought quickly about the signs I could identifiy my mate with.

The instant attraction once we had looked in each others eyes was there. Furthermore his addicting scent was another indication for being mates.

I was so focused on my thoughts that I did not realize that my mate was now standing right in front of me. When he tenderly took my hand in his I was brought back to the present and I could feel the tell-tale tingles spreading though me. I was certain that my wolf got it right.

My mate's hazelnut eyes softened when he looked at me and he whispered "Sophia."

My heart almost stopped, because the astonishment in his voice as if I was a revelation was almost palpable. I was definitely his mate.

I felt a blush rising to my cheeks and shyly smiled at him, which in return had his eyes widen and his cheeks going a bit red.
