As the two men stood stunned, a loud crack erupted from the closet, followed by splinters shooting out with

The flying debris struck both guards squarely on the head, dropping them instantly. Their grip on Ricky loosened, granting him sudden liberation.

The unexpected twist left Ricky completely stunned.

“Who’s hiding?” Wilson grabbed a heavy ashtray from the nearby table, his eyes narrowing.

Ricky tackled Wilson, and the two began to grapple.

Without hesitation, she stomped once, snapping his neck cleanly.

Just as she suspected, Gina’s contact appeared on the screen.

“Why did you interfere?” Maren asked, tossing the device aside and turning to Ricky, who lay on the floor, panting.

Ricky understood exactly what she meant: “I didn’t do it for your sake. I just didn’t want those bastards gaining ground.”

To him, Maren was the only person who could stand against them. If she fell, there’d be no one left to stop the tide.

“I’m the one who ended your father and brothers. Don’t you hate me?” she asked, intrigued.

“Not in the slightest.” Ricky shook his head.

Maren was curious. “Why not?”

“If someone wants to kill you, you have every right to kill them. I tried to stop my father before, but he wouldn’t listen. His fate was sealed the moment he chose violence.”

From his words, it was obvious Ricky held no affection for his father and brothers.

Maren recalled the details Sawyer had shared regarding Ricky. His mother, once a teenage student, had been attacked by Tucker in a secluded forest area after school–an act that led to Ricky’s conception.

Tragically, due to her inexperience and physical fragility, she lost her life during labor.
