Maren had made her intentions unmistakable–she wanted command over the Angels of Death. Ricky had suspected her reason for sparing him mirrored Wilson’s.

But she just told him that the Angels of Death remained under his leadership.

“You’ll still be in charge of the Angels of Death.” She was offering Ricky the same arrangement she’d made with Simon.

“Can I ask–who are you, really?”

Truthfully, Ricky was cornered. The escalating war between Maren and the Sovereign Underworld left the Angels of Death caught in between, taking hits from all directions.

She’d been looking for Blackwood and instead found something far more interesting.

“I’m busy. Walk away before this gets ugly.” Maren was unfazed by being caught mid–act.

Gina, Blackwood, Hyena–whom Maren had already neutralized–were all on a similar tier.

To Maren, Gina was not qualified to be her enemy.

“You must be some deep–cover agent. So, why not quit the charade and tell me your real name?” Gina’s instincts made her hesitate. Rather than strike, she wanted to uncover who Maren really was.

“I could tell you, but then you’d probably run.” With the meds secured, Maren strolled past Gina like she didn’t even exist.

“You’ve got nerve! Think I’d walk in here without backup?” Gina snapped, clapping once in anger.

Instantly, dozens of armed men burst out from the shadows, weapons locked on Maren.

“Once Hyena was taken out, I doubled our firepower. These men? They’re everywhere,” Gina said smugly.

She knew she couldn’t win a one–on–one. But with this much heat? Even a monster wouldn’t walk away unscathed.
