Chapter 167 Cunning
Seeing so many cars on her tail, Maren fired a shot into the dirt near the feet of those loitering at the roadside.
Startled, the crowd panicked–keys dropped, feet scattered.
Without a moment’s pause, Maren lunged into a nearby vehicle, jammed it into motion, and bolted.
“Who knew she could handle a wheel like that?” Trailing her, a man clenched a cigarette between his lips. Though the words sounded like praise, his tone oozed disdain.
No matter how aggressively Maren maneuvered, his headlights stayed glued to her tail like a predator stalking
prey.
For five full corners, she couldn’t shake him.
It wasn’t about his talent. His ride was custom–built to devour speed limits something Maren’s stolen
compact couldn’t match.
So he wasn’t the least bit concerned about her slipping away.
“Hey doll, pull over and have some fun with us. Maybe we won’t bury you today.” A sleazy voice barked through a megaphone from the passenger seat beside the driver.
Maren didn’t flinch.
“Colder than steel,” the man muttered.
“She runs the Onyx. You think she’d spare you a glance?” his companion mocked.
“I like the fiery ones. They’re fun to tame.” The first man grinned, lifting a sniper rifle, balancing it on the edge
of the window, and targeting her tire.
Up ahead, Maren caught a glimpse of the move in her rearview mirror. Without a second thought, she jerked
the steering hard to the left.
Bang!
The bullet flew wide.
“Damn it!”
He aimed again, but Maren twisted the wheel once more, narrowly dodging the shot.
“Enough playing around. Smash her.” A gravelly voice cracked through their radio.
“Copy that,” the driver growled and stomped on the accelerator.
The gap shrank rapidly.
Maren’s expression remained unreadable as she watched them draw closer in the rearview.

Chapter 167 Cunning
She didn’t accelerate.
Instead, she gradually eased off, allowing them to inch forward.
Maren looped a rope around the handbrake.
“Three, two, one!”
Right before impact, Maren kicked the door open, flung herself out, and yanked the rope.
Her car slammed to a stop, and the one behind collided violently right into it.
The crunch echoed. The enemy vehicle folded in on itself–screams pierced the night.
Maren didn’t hesitate. She opened fire, ending every last one.
Then she ripped open their twisted door, seized a submachine gun, and spun, unleashing a barrage on the others still chasing.
Her shots were surgical. Tires burst in succession, and vehicles spiraled out of control, colliding and tumbling
across the asphalt.
Fuel leaked in streaks. Maren sparked a lighter and tossed it. Flames erupted, swallowing everything.
Cries of pain and panic filled the air.
Maren remained stone–faced. She turned and walked away from the inferno without looking back.
Farther down, Simon and Westley emerged from the tail end of the ambush and caught sight of the flaming
wreckage.
“Think this was the boss’s handiwork?” Westley muttered, eyes wide. The devastation looked like the aftermath
of an airstrike.
“Who else could’ve managed that?” Simon wiped grime and sweat from his face.
They were still reeling from the earlier bloodbath–but compared to this, their scuffle felt like child’s play.
Having ditched the first wave, Maren looked up at a growing hum. The sound belonged to a chopper.
“You didn’t really believe slipping away would be that simple?” It was Daron, the leader of the Crazybulls.
Grinning wickedly at Maren, he casually tossed something down to her.
