Chapter 168 She Amazed Wilbur
Daron let out a furious curse the moment he lost all visual feed from inside the factory.
Maren’s sheer power made him hesitate to charge in himself, so he barked the order, sending his men to storm the abandoned building instead.
At that moment, the rest of the crew arrived, quickly surrounding the perimeter as units began infiltrating the
darkened structure.
The factory loomed ahead, a hulking beast of concrete and steel, spanning three ominous stories.
To avoid chaos, each team was equipped with a communicator, ensuring contact as they moved through the
maze.
Initially, check–ins came through without issue, but the deeper they ventured, the quieter the lines grew.
No matter how many times the outside team tried, their calls were met with haunting silence.
“Boss, what’s happening in there?” someone asked, eyes wide with confusion. There hadn’t even been a single
gunshot. Could it just be signal interference?
“Send more in,” Daron commanded, his voice like ice.
“But that’s six teams already. More might not make a difference,” a subordinate ventured hesitantly.
“You trying to tell me how to do my job?” Daron growled, eyes blazing. Then, without warning, he raised his
gun and blew the man’s head open.
The rest froze, paralyzed with terror.
“Shut up. Ten teams. Move. Now!” Daron roared, gripping his bloodied arm. His injury was too serious to recover from at his age. He hated Maren with every breath.
No matter what, he was going to kill Maren today.
“Yes, sir!”
The ten teams stormed in, more terrified of Daron’s wrath than the unknown inside.
This time, each man wore a body camera, broadcasting their every step in real–time.
Daron’s eyes locked onto the monitor, following their progress with bated breath.
Inside, darkness swallowed everything. Even the most advanced gear couldn’t pierce the suffocating blackness beyond a few feet.

Then, an agonized scream shattered the silence.
A shadow darted past one of the members in Team Two.
The camera dropped.
“Left! Look to your left!” Daron shouted, trying to steer Team Two from afar.
But as they obeyed, another phantom flashed to the right. One man’s throat was slit clean, and he dropped
without a sound.
Bodies fell one after another–left, right, forward, behind.
Team Two was being toyed with.
And then, in the blink of an eye, they were wiped out.
“Fall back! Everyone, get out now!” Daron screamed, finally understanding why none of the previous teams had
returned.
Maren wasn’t just strong–she was unstoppable. His men had been led like lambs to slaughter.
Daron didn’t dare step foot inside.
He barked the order to retreat—there was no point in sacrificing more lives.
But Maren wasn’t letting them go. Screams echoed from every corner of the building.
None of the ten teams made it out whole.
Only a few staggered back, pale–faced and drenched–some with wet trousers, terror seeping from their every
pore.
“Unbelievable! This is outrageous!” Daron bellowed, the pain from his wound stabbing deep as he nearly
toppled from his chair.
He snapped his fingers, signaling one of his men.
The lackey rushed to the front, grabbed the loudspeaker, and moved to the factory’s yawning entrance.
“You’re surrounded! Come out now, and we might spare your life!”
No response.
“She’s not coming out?” Daron hissed, grinding his teeth.
He had the advantage in numbers, but none of it mattered if Maren refused to face him.
“Boss, if this keeps up, we should blow up the place,” a subordinate suggested.
“Agreed, but we’d need a mountain of explosives to do it right–this place is massive.” Daron nodded.
Most of their firepower, unfortunately, was with his brother, who was the head of the Slayers.
The two gang leaders had split up. Daron was tasked with eliminating Maren, while Glenn was sent to crush
the Onyx.
