Chapter 148
Valencia’s POV
I tightened my grip on Dante’s hands, feeling the warmth of his skin against mine. His red–rimmed eyes met mine, still filled with uncertainty.
I continued, “And Castor will be fine. You are not useless because I wouldn’t be here without you, and neither would Castor. Have you forgotten? You brought me back, you were resilient, and you didn’t give up, which is why we are both okay and alive now.”
“But that was just me being selfish,” he murmured, his voice rough and uneven.
A dry laugh escaped me as I shook my head. “Dante, I’m horrible at pep talks. I cry too much, overthink everything, and my emotions are a mess most of the time. But if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that you are the most competent person I’ve ever met.” I squeezed his hands. “You’re not just an Alpha. You’re a leader, a husband, a father, a protector. You could doubt yourself for a lifetime, but I could give you a whole list of reasons why you shouldn’t. And if I started now, we’d be standing here in this bathroom all day.”
A ghost of a smile flickered across his lips before it faded just as quickly.
“Promise me something,” he said, his voice quieter now.
I sighed, already knowing where this was going.
“Promise me that you won’t endanger yourself again.”
Guilt twisted in my chest.
I could lie. I could say yes just to soothe him. But I knew myself. And I knew Dante. He would see through it immediately.
So instead, I nodded.
However he didn’t back down, “Say it.”
I huffed, knowing there was no way out, “I promise, okay?”
It wasn’t a lie, not entirely. I wouldn’t throw myself into danger recklessly. But if the people I loved were in trouble? If there was no other option? Let’s just hope something like that never happens.
Dante cupped my face, searching my expression for any signs of dishonesty.
Satisfied, he exhaled deeply, his lips brushing against mine in a soft, lingering kiss. “I’m sorry,” he whispered against my mouth. “I’m sure you feel just as shitty as I do right now, and here I am, begging you for comfort.”
I let out a snort, rolling my eyes. “If you had to ‘beg‘ for my comfort, I wouldn’t really be in love with you, would I?”
His gaze softened as his lips ghosted over my cheeks, then my forehead. A warmth spread through me when he whispered, “I love you too.”
And then, before I could process what was happening, I was suddenly lifted effortlessly into his arms. A startled gasp escaped me as he carried me over to the counter, placing me down with practiced ease.
“Dante-”
He didn’t give me a chance to protest.
With precise, deliberate movements, he tugged my dress off my shoulders, letting the fabric pool around my waist. Even

after everything we had been through–even after all the times we had done this–there was still something about the way he looked at me that made my stomach flutter.
His lips trailed down the side of my neck, his fingers unclipping my bra with effortless precision. The tension in my body from earlier began to melt away, replaced by something softer, something warmer.
By the time we made our way into the shower, the sadness that had loomed over us all day had nearly vanished.
Or, at least, it was momentarily forgotten.
Dante rubbed soap onto my back, his hands gliding over my skin, helping the wash.. or at least, he tried to.
“D–Dante–Mm,” I murmur, but my words are cut off as he seals his lips over mine, the hot water cascading down his back. He pressed me against the glass wall, now completely fogged over with steam.
He kissed me like a starving man, his mouth claiming mine with a desperate hunger.
I let out a soft moan when he bit down on my lower lip, his smirk against my skin making my breath hitch. My heart pounded when I saw his golden eyes darken, shifting into a deep, molten orange.
“You really… do like a little pain, don’t you?” he whispered, his tone more teasing than degrading.
I blushed, turning my gaze away. “I–Is that bad?”
“No… no, it’s perfect.” His voice dropped lower, rough with desire. “I seriously want to devour you whole when I see you blushing so beautifully like this.”
I yelp when one of his fingers slips inside me, my body already soaking wet, my legs trembling.
“So fucking beautiful,” he murmurs, his lips tracing a path down my jaw. “My little fox.”
Time slipped by fast after that.
The night had deepened, the soft glow of the moon filtering through the curtains.
I lay on Dante’s chest, my fingers absentmindedly tracing patterns over his skin. His heartbeat was steady beneath my ear, his arm draped lazily over my waist.
“Dom?” I whispered.
He hummed, half–asleep. “Hmm?”
“You awake?”
A lazy chuckle. “Barely.”
I hesitated.
“I… have an idea.”
That got his attention. His body tensed slightly beneath me, his hand tightening around my hip. “About what?”
I bit my lip. “About unmasking Lethia.”
Dante’s body went completely still.
Slowly, he shifted beneath me, turning so that we were face to face. His golden eyes studied me carefully, fully awake now. “And what is it?”

I swallowed, my heart hammering in my chest. “This time… let’s do things properly. No more working in the shadows. No more keeping things hidden.” I took a deep breath, my fists clenching in the sheets. “I want everyone to know. I want everyone to see what she’s done. The lives she’s ruined.”
Dante’s jaw tightened, but he said nothing, letting me continue.
I exhaled sharply, forcing myself to gather my thoughts.
Before, when I had first been reborn, all I had cared about was survival.
My suffering. My misery.
Revenge had never been something I actively considered. I had been too weak. Too consumed by my own pain to think beyond it.
Jaxon had haunted me and my nightmares even before I had been forced into marriage. Lethia had destroyed my family, his family, caused wars, manipulated people like pieces on a chessboard.
And I had done nothing.
But now?
Now, I was different.
Dante had given me the strength to see myself as something more than just a survivor.
And it wasn’t just him.
Seven. Aiden. Marcy.
All of them had shown me that I was capable. That I was someone worth following. Not because I was a Luna. Not because of some title.
But because I was me.
Aurora’s last words echoed in my mind.
“There are those waiting for you–those who will need
who you,
you have to meet.”
yet
I had a feeling now that she had known…
She had known that my path wasn’t just about my own pain.
