Chapter 52 

Valencia’s POV 

Dante’s voice broke through the tension with an almost unnerving calm. “So, someone found out?” 

1 flinched, my eyes widening as I stared at him. How could he sound so relaxed? Didn’t he understand the gravity of what Raiden had just said? 

Raiden’s jaw clenched, his fury simmering beneath the surface. Do you understand the gravity of this situation? Our situation now? This isn’t just about you, Danite! This will land all of us in deep trouble.” His voice grew sharper, his aura pressing heavily against the room. “The Supernatural Council no knowledge that my wife was a dragon. To them, dragons went extinct decades ago. But now our pack houses three half–dragons. This information will put us in a precarious -and dangerous–position!” 

I felt my hands trembling. My grip on Castor’s egg tightened as Raiden’s words reverberated through me. 

Dante frowned but maintained his composure. “Why?” His tone was steady, but the tick in his jaw betrayed his effort to remain calm. “What reason would the council have to be hostile toward dragons? The SNC governs all of us. They’re supposed to use fair means to maintain balance. Isn’t that their purpose? 

Raiden scoffed, shaking his head. “You think it’s that simple? A dragon’s strength is equivalent to an army of Bordeaux’s royal vampire soldiers. A single dragon is supposed to be monitored by the SNC and check in regularly. We’re housing three and have kept it a secret for years. To them, this would look like an uprising. The punishment for such insubordination could be exile–or worse.” His gaze darkened. “Execution.” 

My breath caught. Execute? That wasn’t possible, right? The council couldn’t–wouldn’t–kill an entire pack over this. 

Yet the look on Raiden’s face told me otherwise 

I clutched Castor’s egg tightly, as though trying to shield him from the weight of those words. My mind raced, recalling fragments of my past life. None of their deaths had occurred near this time. Not even close. 

Dante’s hand settled over mine, his warmth seeping through and grounding me. I glanced up to find his gaze fixed on Raiden “Alright,” he said, his voice calm but edged with steel. “What do you propose we do?” A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. “Since you’re so fond of secrets, I’m sure you already have a solution planned.” 

Raiden cursed under his breath, his frustration boiling over. “You…” He pointed an accusing finger at Dante. “You did this on purpose, didn’t you? I can’t believe you’re throwing a tantrum at your age!” 

A loud scoff drew my attention to Caius, who had taken a seat beside Marcelene at the table. He seemed unbother by the tension in the room, his casual demeanor almost mocking. 

“Please, Dad,” Caius said, rolling his eyes. “You were the one who treated us like children and kept us in the dark. And now that we’re behaving like kids, you’re upset? Make it make sense. 

The argument between father and sons escalated into an all–out verbal war. Words flew like arrows, sharp and biting. I glanced at Marcelene, who was already looking at me with a deadpan expression, her lips pressed into a thin line. 

Somehow, her exasperation gave me courage. 

“Alpha Raiden,” I said, my voice cutting through the chaos. The room fell silent, and I found myself the center of attention. Anxiety clawed at my chest, but I clenched my fists and forced myself to meet his gaze. “Forgive me for my rudeness, but 1 have no interest in the petty arguments between you and your sons. What you said implies that my son will be in danger. I hope you remember that the only reason I agreed to this marriage contract was the promise of his safety.” 

Raiden’s expression flickered with surprise, and then he turned to Dante. Dante’s gaze shifted to me, his brows furrowing slightly, though I couldn’t quite read his emotions.

“See, Dad?” Calus said, his tone almost smug. “You’re scaring the bride now”

Dante’s eyes darkened slightly, a faint ripple of anger brushing against the bond between us. But the emotion felt.. muted. like someone had pressed a hand against a vibrating string. 

1 frowned, confusion swirling. Was he holding back? How was he doing that? 

Raiden sighed heavily, rubbing his temples as though the weight of the world rested on his shoulders. “This information was brought to me by an insider within the council,” he admitted. “In reveal the truth ourselves–before the council initiates a proper investigation–we might be granted leniency” 

His words hung in the air like a guillotine, 

Raiden straightened, his tone finn. “We’ll need to leave for Norier Isle immediately. Pack your bags. We depart in two hours.” His gaze shifted to Marcelene. “You too, Miss Voss.” 

Marcelene’s jaw dropped, her expression a mix of disbelief and anger. “Excuse me? 

Raiden didn’t acknowledge her indignation, instead looking to Caius. “You kids are going to drive me into an early grave.” 

He turned and left, his parting words echoing ominously. 

Marcy’s hands curled into fists as she glared at Caius and then at me. “I need to go back to my mother,” she said, her voice trembling with barely contained frustration. 

Caius, for once, seemed almost apologetic. “I’m sorry, Marcy,” he began, but she cut him off sharply.
