The Rejected Phoenix novel Chapter 10

Chapter ten.

Subtitle: welcome to the pack.

I sat with my legs crossed in the room I was in.

The alpha of the pack that was planning  to kill Charlie was sitted opposite  me staring intently at me.

"what did you say Charlie did again? "

I asked coldly.

He looked at me with a straight gaze.

The fact that I was an intruder who had come to intimidate  him in his territory was not pleasing him at all and he was boiling with anger.

"she killed a lady... And according  to my code of law anyone who kills someone without any reason must be killed also."

He snapped.

"according to the story you just told me she didn't kill the lady for fun.  The lady stole her mate from her, if it were me I would burn her to ashes. ... The mate bond is a very strong bond and anyone who gets rejected finds it hard to move on..  I had a similar case but I choosed to move away from them.  There are some people who cant do that. ... And I kind of regret leaving."

I muttered.

"rules are rules. ... And besides she's not the only problem we have now.  Our neighboring pack have being attacked and wiped out by black witches.  And we're the closest to them so we're next.  I really want to get done with her matter and move on to other important  things so would  you please stop interrupting me phoenix PRINCESS!"

he snapped stressing the word 'princess's.

"over my death body will you be able to kill her, she's my life saver and I won't let you do that.  Why don't we return favours for each other.  I'll help you guard your territory  and fight against the black witch and you'll release her from all accusations and let both me and her join your pack.. "

I stated my words.

His eyes seemed to shun from my proposal.

"to have a phoenix princess as powerful as you I'm sure that we won't have any hard time with the witches.  At least you'll help protect us.  But how am I sure that you won't betray me? "

He asked.

" I'm a phoenix alpha, phoenixes don't break their promises.  Here is my court seal feather.  You can take this as the contract between us both.

Now are we on the same page? "

I asked and handed him one of my red feathers, I almost laughed at myself when Latisha  asked me where I got that idea of court seal feather  from.

"good.... I'll inform the pack immediately  and your acceptance cermemony  will be in two days from now..  The charges against Charlie will be broken.  Welcome to the pack! I'm alpha Cole! "

It was the first time the grumpy alpha had smiled at me since I got there.

He extended his hands for a shake which I took gladly.

"and I'm Melanie.."

I answered.

his smiles where now growing wider.

** Alpha Ryker's POV **

I Watched as the guards left the throne room one by one with my instruction.

Soon the front door creaked open and. Jaxon  came in.

He was looking sullen and his eyes were swollen.

"were are you just coming from Jax? Didn't you have to handle the instructions yourself, why was the guard doing it? "

I asked him as he walked down in a seat besides me.

"I had to take care of my mom.  It's usually my sister who does that that's why I never have to worry about it but now that's she's gone I have to stick around, my two step sister are to busy being selfish to care... And the old woman isn't making it any easier for me! "

He lamented and took the mug of juice I was drinking from the table besides me.

"you still haven't wnt found her ?"

I asked.

He nodded his head and I sighed.

"sorry about that man...  But there's nothing I can do.  And my wolf is ignoring me too, he haven't talked to me since the shifting ceremony..  But I guess you too will be fine and adapt to the situation soon. "

I said and rubbed his shoulders.

He sighed.

"so your really marrying her?"

I heard him asked.
