Chapter 33
I have never witnessed a more humiliating scene. A queen being whipped like a child at the centre of a crowded arena by a simple warrior
I wait for her mighty husbands to intervene, but they remain in their seats, laughing alongside everyone else. I realize that this must be their plan, to have her killed so that they can be freed from the blood promise they made
“She is smart to run. Ezra comments in astonishment as we watch queen Lyna flee from the battlefield with her fience challenger chasing after her.
She manages to escape the with her head still on, rendering the kings‘ plans a failure. Apparently the blood promise didn’t fully grant her a lifetime of happiness. She has suffered more shame today than any warrior that has ever stood in the arena. But she survived.
If she weren’t so evil she would have the perfect life, the kind she always wanted.
Rumulus runs after her like a concerned lover. I must admit that they are a perfect match. It’s strange that their ends do not exactly aligu
The assistant of the kings announces the end of today’s matches and we rise to leave the arena. But one of the officials of the kings stands on our way.
“Greetings. Mr. Ezra Awin.” He greets my friend Ezra with a winsome smile. “Our great kings would love to have a word with you He informs..
Ezra’s eyes go wide in surprise. I too raise an eyebrow.
“Sir you must be mistaken. The lady beside me is the warrior. Ezra points.
“I am well aware of that. But it is you that the kings wishes to speak to. The official affirms.
Both I and Ezra glance at each other with confusion. What on earth would the kings be needing to discuss with him?
“What do you think they want?” He asks me in a nervous voice.
“I do not know. You will have to go and find out.” I answer and he nods anxiously.
“Follow me. The official says and leads my friend away.
I cannot follow despite my curiosity. I decide that Ezra will inform me everything when he returns. So I make my way back to my guest room and wait.
He doesn’t return for almost an hour. And when he enters the room his lips are curled into the happiest of smiles.
“What did they tell you?” I demand.
“They invited both of us to dine with them tonight!” He excitedly shares. “They promised to have the best foods prepared He adds and waits for my reaction.
Guess I will have to pretend that I am excited to dine with the angel kings, again. Otherwise he will start to grow suspicious. “They could have just sent a servant to tell us that.” I say.
“Yes, but they were worried that you would decline the invitation since their queen was rude to you last time” He answers. She will not be there, obviously.”
My ability to use the dreamstone is the only reason I am invited to the kings dinner. I wish I can decline without causing suspicion
I will go find a good dress to wear when the time comes” I say and make my way out of the room
Chapter 31.
I need a new dress with a veil. If I had known that I would be attending so many royal dinners I would have come more prepared
Queen Lyna’s Pov
Angry tears fill my eyes as the palace doctor cleans and treats my painful wounds. My servants sit on the edges of the bed muttering all words of comfort that they know.
Ugly swells and bleeding cuts cover my formerly smooth skin. My reputation also suffered a fatal blow, one that it may never
recover.
I thought my husbands would help when I screamed for help, but I hear they were applauding my humiliation. They didn’t stop the fight even when I was about to be beheaded.
“The wounds will heal in a matter of days, just make sure to rest and eat well. Your wolf needs it. The doctor recommends before leaving.
“Did Miss Hangings watch the fight?” I ask my servants.
She must have enjoyed watching me get whipped in front of the entire arena. My flight must have proved that I am neither courageous nor skilled like her. But I am sure there are other things I am and she is not.
“I would have… appreciated your help” I say, grunting in pain.
He strides forward and takes a seat on the side of my bed. My servants rise and immediately leave the room.

“What kind of a strange behaviour?” He demands, sounding quite impatient.
“Who stays there?” He curiously asks.
“No one we know of. My servants say that the doors are always locked except when one of them is there.” I answer.

My mate rises from the bed and starts pacing the room. “So they keep visiting their deceased mother’s quarters that no one lives in? That sounds scary. He multers.
“Yes I agree, “What do you think is in there?”
Chapter 33
“Their most valuable secrets, of course.” He answers.
“Oh. How interesting.” I say. “So I can now start asking for everything I want from them?” I ask.
He hulls, seeming annoyed. “You must first sneak in there and find out what the secrets are.” He points.
I think for a long moment. I am desperate enough to do everything he says as long as it helps me survive this storm.
“I am afraid that I cannot find out what the secrets are since I cannot read.” I say worriedly
“Then steal whatever you
find and bring it to me.” He says and I nod.
I will need days to recover though. I cannot leave this room with so many wounds and swells on my skin.
