Chapter 389 What He Needs Is You 

Charlotte rushed through the crowd, spotting Gideon near the bar. “Dr. Holland,” she said quickly, “something’s wrong with Arthur. Can you check on him?” 

Gideon looked up, raising an eyebrow. “What do you mean ‘something’s wrong‘?” 

Charlotte gave him a quick rundown of the situation. When she finished, Gideon chuckled, “If that’s the case, you don’t need me. What he really needs is you–his wife.” 

Charlotte frowned, her tone firm. “I think it’s better if you go.” She didn’t want to get involved with Arthur anymore. There was no hesitation in her voice. The divorce was just around the corner, and she had no interest in any unnecessary entanglements. 

“Still dead set on the divorce?” Gideon asked as he stood and followed her toward the lounge. 

“Yes,” she said without pause. 

Gideon pressed on. “Even if he’s not the same with you anymore?” 

“Dr. Holland,” Charlotte cut him off, her tone clipped, “he’s your friend. Just go check on him.” She didn’t want to talk about this topic, especially with Arthur’s friend.

2/4 Gideon gave her a long look but didn’t press further. When they reached the lounge, they found a waiter stationed by the door. “Sorry, there’s already someone here,” the waiter said softly, with his head lowered. 

“Excuse me, but someone inside isn’t feeling well,” Gideon said. “I’m a doctor. Let me in.” 

The waiter gave a small bow, speaking softly. “I’m sorry, but another doctor has already gone in.” 

“Oh?” Gideon raised an eyebrow. 

Charlotte stood a few feet away, her eyes narrowing as she studied the waiter. There was something familiar about him, but she couldn’t quite place it. 

Just then, another waiter approached her. “Mrs. Harrison, the auction is about to wrap up. Mrs. Jennifer Harrison asked if you could join her on stage for the closing remarks.” 

Charlotte frowned and thought, “That isn’t part of the plan. Did Jennifer add it last minute?” 

After a moment’s thought, she nodded. “Alright. I’ll go.” She turned to Gideon. “I’ll leave Arthur to you.” With that, she walked off without another glance. 

Gideon stared after her, his brows knitting together. “Wait.

His gaze shifted back to the waiter. Something about his demeanor felt off. “Who’s the doctor that went in?” he asked 

sharply. 

The waiter froze, looking flustered. “I don’t know.” 

“You don’t know?” Gideon’s tone turned icy. “And you let them in? What if something happens to the person inside? Are you ready to take responsibility?” 

The waiter paled, stammering an apology. 

“Gideon, the doctor is with me.” Mason’s calm voice cut through 

the tension.
