Charlotte shivered slightly at the cold, still clinging to Diana’s clothes. “I wasn’t crying.”

Diana made a small sound of acknowledgment. “I’m glad you’re safe.” 

Even when expressing happiness, her face remained impassive. She’d never been good at showing strong emotions. 

After closing the door, they both sat down. 

Diana’s lip twitched at the sight of takeout containers covering the table. “What’s all this for?” 

Charlotte blinked innocently. “Just welcoming you back.” 

“That’s hardly necessary.” Diana massaged her temples, then pulled out her phone. “I’ve uncovered more than just what happened at the banquet. I found out about the incident from five years ago, too.” 

She had compiled everything into a file… photos, text messages, and security camera screenshots. 

“Five years ago, the person who spiked the drinks is now your brother’s girlfriend. And she showed up at the charity banquet a few days ago.”

“I ran into my brother then. He said Joanna had returned to her hometown.” 

Diana pointed to a photo. “This is Joanna.” 

Charlotte looked at the security camera screenshot. It showed the entrance to the break room, and there she was with Gideon. 

She remembered that day. Arthur wasn’t feeling well, so she’d gone to find Gideon to check on him, but a server stopped her at the break room door. 

The server had kept her head down. At first, she’d only thought the person looked familiar, but now, hearing Diana’s words, the face instantly matched the photo in her mind! 

Charlotte’s brows furrowed. “She didn’t appear as my brother’s girlfriend but as a server. She…” 

“She’s Sarah’s cousin,” Diana stated bluntly. “Trent had a younger brother who died in an accident when he was young, leaving behind one daughter. Joanna often visited Trent’s house and was close to Sarah. But Joanna was a poor student, dropped out after middle school, and bounced between odd jobs. She even worked as an escort.” 

Charlotte’s eyes widened. “Are you saying that five years ago, when Joanna drugged Arthur, Sarah was involved?”

evidence.” Diana frowned. “What I can’t figure out is why Sarah would have Arthur drugged when she was about to marry him anyway.” 

“There’s something else…” She paused, giving Charlotte a complicated look. 

“What?” 

Charlotte pressed, unconsciously gripping her phone tighter. 

Diana took a swig of beer, closed her eyes briefly, and said, “I’m not sure what role your brother played in all this.” 

“Impossible!” 

Charlotte rejected the suggestion instantly.
