"Well, make it work!"
I snapped my gaze away from the computer to see Gabriel storming out of the elevator with a scowl plastered on his face. It was enticing to ask him what his issue was, but I bit my tongue. Him hating me mixed with him being in a bad mood is a huge no-no. Instead, I turned my attention back to the final document, sighing as I saved it. After two hours of complete torture, I can finally email them to him and be on my way.
"Miss. Summers, do you have those files done?" He barked.
I nodded, "I'm sending them to you now."
He nodded, "Good."
When the phone sounded, I groaned. "Hi, you have reached Stone Halls Company, this is Mr. Stone's secretary speaking, how may I help you?"
I hope this is what I'm supposed to say.
"I need to cancel the meeting today at twelve, unfortunately, my boss is having personal problems," a deep voice sounded.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Uh, who's calling?"
"This is Jason Reed's secretary, Mr. Williams."
Sounds like the name of a teacher in a porn movie.
Damn it, Scar, put your immaturity elsewhere!
"Oh! Is there any day you would like to reschedule it for?" I asked, pulling up his schedule.
"Would Saturday work? He was thinking of having it in a restaurant at seven pm."
I pursed my lips as I read through his schedule, "Looks like we have an opening for seven thirty, would that work still?"
"Yes, I will make reservations at Martin's Italian house."
"Marvelous, we will see him then, Mr. Williams."
"Thank you for your time."
"You're welcome."
Once he hung up, I reorganized his schedule and printed out a new sheet. I took a deep breath as I got ready to walk into Satan's office.
"Did you ever hear of knocking?" He hissed as I swung the door open.
I rolled my eyes, "Have I ever knocked before?"
He chuckled, "No, you haven't. Now, what is it, Miss. Summers?"
"Jason Reeds had to cancel for today, but I managed to reschedule it for Saturday at seven-thirty."
"I know...and I am sorry for that," I said before turning to leave.
"Scar?"
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry I acted selfish during our marriage."
I stiffened, "Is that why you think I left?"
"No...I don't know, but looking back at it...I was a suckish husband."
"Well, you definitely needed work, but...you did treat me right. So, thank you, for not being the same as all the others."
It was silent for a while before I sighed, "I really want you to know why I cheated, but I'm scared to tell you. Someday, you'll understand, at least I hope you will."
"Are you in danger? Please, tell me the truth."
"No, I'm fine, okay?" I replied, smiling.
He didn't believe me, I could see it in his eyes. But I didn't say anything else, I only turned and walked out.
