Estelle's POV

I stood still as if I had been struck by lightning. All kinds of thoughts rushed into my head, but I only stayed for a second, never looking at what was happening inside. I immediately ran away from the office door, a sour feeling spreading over my heart.

I don't want to go through this feeling of betrayal again, my ex-boyfriend's scenes came to my eyes. I took a deep breath to adjust my emotions and told myself that Lance and I were only in a nominal mate relationship and it was none of my business what kind of person he kissed. But why Skyler, why her? My eyes watered with aggression, and Artemis angrily tried to seize control.

"Why are you leaving? You should have gone in there and ripped that bitch's mouth off."

There was a part of me that did want to rip Skyler's mouth off, but there was another part of me that still acted like the little girl without the wolf and just ran away. I had no reason to stop them, and maybe Lance would even be mad at me for interrupting the kiss.

"He's our MATE!" Artemis stopped me from getting frustrated.

"But Lance never said anything to me.mate was just a liability to him."

I sat by the garden, bending my legs and burying my face between my knees. A boy's soft voice came from above my head.

"Are you okay?" I looked up and Jacob was standing in front of me.

"I'm fine." My tone to him was cold because I didn't want to see anyone right now.

"Are you sure? Your voice doesn't sound good."

"I said I'm fine." I tried to get up and leave, but Jacob stood in front of me with a smile.

"Although I don't know what you're angry about, but want to play with us, sports are very soothing."

Jacob looked at me with bright eyes, like a puppy waiting for his master to take him out to play. I accepted his invitation with a sigh. Who can refuse a puppy?

"You're really good! No girl has ever made me lose so badly." Jacob lay panting on the ground.

"You shouldn't have given in to me." I patted myself on the back.

"The Moon Goddess is above, and I'm not giving in to you."

"That's when you're too weak."

"All right, all right." Jacob giggled as he held his arm over his eyes.

But even if I had knocked Jacob and his friends to the ground, it wouldn't have made me feel any better, I was still thinking about the conversation Lance and Skyler had just had. So much so that I didn't see the steps beneath my feet.

"Look out!" Jacob caught me, and I fell to the grass with him.

"Are you okay?" I looked back at Jacob, who I was using as a meat cushion, and he still had that goofy grin on his face.

"I'm sturdy!"

The mate link brings a familiar feeling. I looked to the other side of the playground and Lance's black coat was just a little conspicuous in this scene. He was walking quickly towards us, and I could feel his anxiety. I don't know why he's here. Did Skyler fail to keep him?

"Alpha?" Jacob apparently also saw Lance not far away.

"Why is the Alpha at school?" A boy asked.

Lance walked straight towards me and took my hand, in front of the crowd. I couldn't avoid this, his icy eyes swept over Jacob and his friends, and he was angry? I could smell it from him.

"Come with me." Lance gave an unquestionable order. I gave a small twist of my wrist and Lance's hand gripped mine like an iron grip.

I just pulled away from Lance, and Jacob tried to say something behind me, but swallowed it back because of Lance's terrible eyes.

"What are you doing?" When we got to a place where no one was around, I was finally able to break free of his hand.

"You were just outside the office? So you saw it all?"

"I saw it, so what?" I really don't know what we're talking about here. Is he going to get back at me for beating Skyler?

Lance let out a breath through his nose "I just knocked her out, she was too noisy."

"You don't have to explain yourself to me." I don't know where I got the courage to speak to Lance like that.

"But you should hear me out on the facts. skyler tried to kiss me and I knocked her out. That's all."

So he didn't kiss Skyler? In fact, when Skyler got close to his face, I couldn't look any further. The feeling of betrayal scared me and I fled the scene immediately. Luckily, my stomach, which was seized into a ball, finally relaxed.

"She's very fond of you." I said to Lance. I don't even know why I said that, gosh, I was like a jealous teenage girl. Well, I was indeed a teenage girl. As much as I wanted to deny it, what I just did came 100% from jealousy.

"I don't like her."

"She confessed her love for you, and you haven't responded."

"I tried to say no, but she didn't give me that chance."

"Then you should have gone to her instead of coming to me." I should have stopped long ago, for God's sake, I was like a jealous little girl. But those words came out of my mouth uncontrollably.

"Did you just have a good time?" Lance's head suddenly leaned in close to mine as he sniffed the air around me.

"Okay." I struggled to shrink back.

"That's not the answer I want to hear. You smell like a puppy."
